So turning things back to a more serious note, I'm looking for a way to help out Grant's family. He's still in jail, his bond is set at $150K, and based on being charged with several felonies and misdemeanors, it seems likely he'll be sentenced to some jail/prison time at some point (not sure how that distinction is made). Anyway, getting back to the point, I'm thinking about setting up a page on one of those sites where anybody can donate to a cause. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or pride for that matter and cause any problems, since the whole situation is bad enough as it is.
Here are some options I'm thinking about.
1. Get in contact with Grant and/or his wife about the idea - I'm a little hesitant about this since I don't know her that well - I've associated more with Grant - and I don't really know how she would react. But, in terms of setting something up, it would be easier with the family on board imo.
2. Bring up the idea to my wife, see what she thinks and have her bring it up to Grant's wife. This may be better than #1 because my wife and Grant's wife work together in primary (that's church-related if you didn't know).
3. Set up a site without mentioning all the details about the family (but rather the situation in general) so as not to invade anyone's privacy and hopefully not piss anyone off. The downside is that I'm pretty sure this approach would hurt the chances of actually having much success.
Any thoughts on these possibilities? They're a good family and I don't want things to be any tougher than they already are because of financial difficulties.
