Awesome robots

The government/military/contractors are investing in some really awesome robots, and it's making me want to get into robotics. Here are a couple of videos to incite some paranoia.

This is Big Dog. It's aimed to help military personnel on the ground by carrying up to 400 pounds for 20 miles before needing to refuel. There is an even more up to date video that shows slightly enhanced movement and intelligence. But this one is longer.

This next one is the awesome Cheetah Robot. It can run VERY fast. They think they can make it a lot faster within a couple of years!

They only allow one video per post.

is the robot making that noise or is it something else.
first thing they gotta do is get rid of the noise

The hydraulics? This isn't meant for stealth. Only heavy lifting in rough terrain.

The Big Dog does indeed sound like a Big Bee or Jason Voorhees. I seriously laughed out loud when he kicked the thing though. That's very cool. Anything DARPA is throwing money into is usually pretty interesting.

I forgot about my favorite robot!

I was underwhelmed with the big dog until the part of the when the guy is trying to kick it over .. Glad I kept watching.

Speaking of realistic.

This is very good too.

Seriously though, I liked this thread. I'm very interested in robotics and planning to invest on my education for this branch.

Here is one of my fav videos, quadrotors.
