Yeah, but I think he calculated that making that admission was his best way to save some face. That's was just damage control on his part, IMO....

Admitting you did anything wrong is damage control.

I just think it's an effort to change the narrative from "look how foolish he looked and sounded" to "look how he can man up". Yes, that is damage control, in service to changing the narrative from negative to as positive a spin as he can create. So, I'm just cynical about that. Of course, any of us is capable of being petty, capable of foot in mouth disease. In this case, that response by Shapiro does beat doubling down on the mistakes he made.
