Best Halloween Movie

Henry Selick is great. I've enjoyed all of his animated features. Nightmare, James and the Giant Peach, Coraline, ParaNorman. Monkeybone is a wild movie that works (mostly). They've all got such a great unsettling quality.

Some more suggestions:
Trollhunter: This movie is simply awesome. It's got some quality found footage creepiness while also being wildly funny and enjoyable. It's on Netflix.

House of the Devil: Probably Ti West's best movie. I believed after seeing this that he would revive horror cinema.

The Devil's Backbone: I'm usually pretty down on Guillermo Del Toro but this is a nice little ghost yarn. It probably also doesn't qualify but Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies.

The Nightmare before Christmas is hella dope. Trout can suck on Tim Burton's toe fungus.

The Haunted Mansion at DisneyLand is so much better when it is all "Nightmared" up.

Oh, helllllllllllllll naw. I almost went back and got a refund for my ticket the first year they started doing that and I happened to be there. I don't like the Jack Sparrow'd version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride either. Somebody at Disneyland needs to be slapped upside the head with a churro for allowing this madness.

Took a break from scary movies to watch the first five episodes of the second season of Hannibal. Outstanding. So creepy. Great show. I recommend it to everyone, but don't eat while watching.

Monster Squad

It sounds like you have kids and this is perfect. I also recommend Monster House, which was written by Dan Harmon who is now mostly famous for Community. The cast is excellent and the whole movie is enjoyable.

If this is an adult movie (but not the fun kind) Drag me to Hell and Cabin in the Woods are the best options that have come out in the last 5ish years.

Sir - Thanks. We love Monster House. We own it and the kids watch it all the time during Halloween. Monster House was fun because it was an old time horror film. Good music, makes you jump at the right times, the way it was filmed. Very nostalgic. There is my uneducated film review. Ha ha. I've added The Monster Squad to our list.

Watched The Skeleton Key tonight. Good movie. A young Kate Hudson doesn't hurt at all. Not at all. Been a good season so far. I'm excited to get to a lot of these movies.
