Best Player Available ...Who's sliding down for the Jazz to take ?

Yeah, but you know what cost us to miss the playoffs last year? Gobert and Favors getting injured and not having talented backups.

It would be extremely premature to trade Favors just because a rookie big is playing well.
I think we missed the playoffs because we didn't have enough on the wing or running the offense.

No NBA team needs to pay $10+ per year on 4 bigs. Big men are like NFL rb's. If you have an elite one, good for you but you can win without them. Did we not learn anything from the Millsap, AK, Booz situation? Or Favors, Kanter and Gobert? It is incredibly hard to groom 3-4 quality young big men at the same time. Guys get disgruntled, nobody really emerges as the guy and they end up leaving first shot they get.

No, the lesson that I learned from the Millsap, AK, Booz situation and Favors, Kanter and Gobert situation is that you better be stocked with bigs. Millsap, AK, Booz went south when Memo got hurt and we didn't have anything at the center position. With Favors, Kanter and Gobert, one was a dud and fortunately he was replaceable. Obviously, you don't need 3 really good Power Forwards, but a pair of legit Power Forwards combined with a pair of legit centers is certainly not overkill, especially when each member of the pair plays a different style.

That being said, I don't want Poetl. I would hope we could flip him for something different if he fell to #12 (which I don't think he will.)

I'm on board with Poetl. Tough for bigs to stay healthy for all 82 and we've seen Favors have back issues. I don't think Withey or Pleiss are decent backups. Draft Poetl and go after another wing via trade or free agency. Personally, I'd wouldn't mind DL trading for Gay.

A decent summer IMO would be Poetl, Gay and Teague. I'm in favor of Teague because I think Exum is going to take time to get back to 100%.

that would be an outstanding summer i'd say. That would make us a terrific team.

If we took him and he looks good to start the season, I think we would have to really think about trading Favors. 4 good bigs won't win you a title. We need wings. Lyles, Poeltl and Gobert is pretty well balanced.

Blah blah blah, hey guys, if Lyles can hit a few 3 pointers... OMG!..OMG! Did you guys see that?!!

Trade Favors!!! Lyles can be the future guy we need next to Gobert!

Oh, hey guys. Forget that stupid **** I just said. Only trade Favors if Lyles wants us to trade him.

Whoops! My bad. What I meant is, if Jazz draft a mother Furkan Rookie, such as Poetl, and he looks kinda good in the first 2 weeks, let's trade Favors. Der.

My apologies for that last post.

Seriously though, has anyone noticed that Favors is really mother Furkan good?

My hell, I really just want to pull a Draymond Green on those who don't appreciate Derrick for the badass he is.

Favors is a solid player. But take a look around the playoffs. Is there a place for Favors in these games? Kevin Love is a better all around offensive player, and he can't do anything. Even the great Tim Duncan was rendered practically useless against OKC.

If we didn't have Gobert, I would fight like hell to keep Favors. But we have to see the writing on the wall - Gobert and Favors together will not work in the playoffs. Teams will spread is out and attack us.

Now if Favors can develop consistent range, I would eat these words. Or if he starts using his God given size and athleticism to play with Tristan Thompson style heart, I would also eat my words. But until then, we are kidding ourselves.

In case you haven't noticed, Tim Duncan is 87 years old. Favors when healthy is a beast and will keep getting better. Exum/Favors PNR is going to be huge. Kevin Love can shoot 3's but apart from that is dead set useless.

I honestly think that you can get away with pairing Gobert and Favors to get you to the playoffs even if you have to go smaller once you get there.

5 - Gobert/Favors
4 - Lyles/Hayward
3 - Hayward/Hood
2 - Hood/Burks
1 - Exum/Mack

If everyone were healthy this past season, that's essentially what I'd expect to see from the Jazz in the playoffs. Getting rid of Favors would be a mistake unless you have s better option to replace him. His versatility and physicality are more valuable than his ability to shoot 3's.

I've been saying this all summer. We need a starting PG, a starting wing and a backup big. Your plan gets Utah all three. I like.

The reason Love is useless right now is because he can't defend. Duncan couldn't help because he can't defend on the perimeter. Favors happens to be pretty damn good on the perimeter for a big guy, so we don't need to take him off the court.

Favors is like a rich man's Tristan Thompson. That dude is killing the playoffs.
