Best Playoff Outcomes for Jazz Trades

Best playoff outcome for Jazz trades would be OKC playing tough against Dallas and losing in 6 or 7 because they lack the 3pt shooting. Then maybe the Thunder would try to rectify it and, being impatient, to offer several picks for Lauri.
I don’t think the jazz are that serious about trading Markkanen. They’ve already stated it would take 4-5 picks and a star player going to Utah.

In the past two years what the Jazz were are saying and what they were doing could not differ more. They have been trading their good players left and right for nothing but picks and/or young prospects. They draft a ton of young players and signed a ton of young players on non-guaranteed contracts. They traded away Fontecchio who would be ideal for any competitive team. In short, the Jazz went way out of their way to ensure that there will be no good players to help Markkanen compete in the next two years.

It’s straight from the mouth of Tony Jones and I tend to believe him when he speaks about the jazz

One thing I considered last night... if we are trying to be good sooner than later and are indeed going star hunting... and that is the plan. I would think having NAW and Tech would be pretty helpful. NAW was a bit of a victim of the THT experience. He was pretty good in sporadic playing time. He likely needed to be in the Wolves deal unfortunately so I won't kill them there. But those are types of dudes you keep if you are trying to make a win-now push. Maybe we are incompetent or maybe what they say and what they do just doesn't align right now.
What concerns me deeply is that not a single thing the Jazz have done in the last couple years gives me any reason to believe they appropriately value defense.

Drafting Taylor Hendricks was maybe the closest thing, and even with that, the reports were he was 9th on their big board and they took him begrudgingly.

Trading for John Collins and playing him at the 5 all season makes me think they don't really get it. It took Kris Dunn an eternity to get adequate playing time despite having an obvious large positive impact thanks to his defense.

Feels like an FO that is happy to sacrifice a mile of defense for an inch more of offense.

This Tony Jones?

"The roster’s collective length and athleticism, particularly in the frontcourt, is outstanding. And the Jazz want to make the postseason. " (Tony Jones, Oct 23, 2023)

The same Tony Jones who kept saying that the Jazz want the 2024 pick to convey and will not tank ...up until the beginning of the most blatant tank in the Jazz history?

Sir you know the Jazz tried to win games at first....

Iove how people act like backup centers are easy to find and Tristan Thompson is playing in the playoffs

Not exactly the biggest gotcha when he's only playing bc Jarrett Allen is hurt. 3rd center isn't a position I would care too much about when building a roster, especially when options #1 and #2 are Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. It's unfortunate that Allen is hurt, but you don't exactly plan for a key player to be hurt bc you are probably screwed anyways.

Don't see you saying anything about Tillman or Kornet either, who were very easy to acquire.

Dean Wade who toggles between the 2 bigs is also out.
