Best shows on TV?

OL, do you think you would like TV shows and movies more if they had more explosions in them?
Nah there were plenty of those the first six episodes. I guess I was expecting a lot having seen shows like True Detective before which sets the bar much higher in terms of plot progression, tautness, suspense and production value. Granted the first season of Breaking Bad is 5 years old now.

Are you a big Michael Bay fan?

He likes romance. The bachelor and what not

Nope, but I did like Bad Boys I and II.

As I'd said I like taut drama like True Detective, Broadchurch, etc. So far Breaking Bad is like a watered down version of those shows (albeit a different genre all together too), but I'm told it will pick up so just have to wait and see.

I finally got around to watching The Wire. Good show. Launched a lot of careers.

I'm in the middle of season three now.

First few seasons were awesome.
Some of the best tv ever.

Hated the season about the dock workers/union or whatever and the season about the newspaper though

Seems like you went to the school of QSH with this type of descriptor. I swear that dude comes up with the most ridiculous stuff. Anyway, please explain to me what "taut drama" is. Thanks.

I recently watched the whole series again and it's held up well. The storylines, the characters, the commentary on socio economic issues is as relevant now as it was back then. It's almost like a beginner course in urban studies. The character arcs are absolutely still some of the best TV in the history of TV. Dukie, Michael, Namond and Randy are all prime examples of kids in today's inner city and how, where and why they end up.

Haha...

I dunno what it's like for everyone else but I usually have my laptop next to me whenever I watch a movie or a show on TV. If what I'm watching is engaging enough I won't look at the laptop at all. To me that's taut drama. It is engaging, you feel like you need to take in every word each actor is saying, it is just that important. True Detective, Broadchurch, Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Sherlock,... these shows to me fit that description.

If the opposite is true, I'll be surfing the net, reading Jazzfanz, checking out ESPN, etc, while peeking at the show/movie once in a while to make sure I know what's roughly going on. If I have time to do all that then it's not engaging enough for me.

I do appreciate the response. Can I ask how old you are?
