Best vertical jump program!

I'm 3 months out of ACL surgery and I'm putting it down off of two feet and one. The best thing I can do ( I don't know about you ) is give my legs a break. If I have shin splints, it takes a lot away from my hops. If I wait a few weeks without working out, running, jumping, etc - I can fly.

I was scared I wasn't going to be able to jump again after my surgery, but I'm finding out, it's not how strong your knees are - it's about form, ankle strength and fast twitch.

I had a difficult time dunking in high school until I started martial arts. Within 6 months I could dunk with relative ease.

A buddy of mine who could jump really high did a program and the guy who trained him said jumping comes from nothing but the back of your legs. Seemed to work for me.

I've never been able to dunk! That's more rare than dunking on this board and I play basketball/go to the gym every day

Shin splints are the worst. That is my main issues from running too much in HS, plus my left ankle from 3 sprains since Middle School because of Skateboarding and Bball.

The best thing I've found for shin splints, besides rest, is compression socks. Those things are money. I bought a pair on amazon.com for $20 - underarmor, and I don't get them nearly as bad during and after playing. You should try them. They're ugly, but they work.

What do you guys do to work out the back of your legs? And to improve quickness and fast twitch?

Squats are always the best leg workout, they workout pretty much every leg muscle. Working on flexibility would probably help promote quickness.

Dead lifts are good for hammy workouts. So are straight-leg dead lifts or romainian deadlifts or "good mornings", which are my favorite and can be done with barbell, dumbell or anything you can hold in your hands. There are variations on this one that use a barbell on your neck like a squat or holding it in front of you like a deadlift.

Here is a decent start on hamstring exercises:

The spotter on exercise #4 has a sweet view. And holy crap, I just tried to do that exercise and it is hard.

Who gives a flying pickle about dunking when you can sit behind the arc and rain?

Noah thought that God made it rain for forty days and forty nights, when in reality, it was me.
