Ever since 9/11, everything is a "national security threat".
i think it's about this:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-pres...a-signs-healthy-hunger-free-kids-act-2010-law
this is a modest policy change that gives the usda more control over the food going into our elementary and middle schools, with almost comically inoffensive bullet points like "Expands access to drinking water in schools"
but this thread will be about how obesity is a crisis of personal responsibility despite the us government giving huge subsidies to factory farms and their junk food peddlers who spend a lot of time and money finding novel ways to press our evolutionary buttons and despite the bad science and great marketing that led to our overconsumption of refined carbohydrates (average american downs 51 gallons of soda a year) that leads to spikes in hunger, that leads to continued eating, that leads to weight gain and insulin resistance and diabetes and continued support of a system where you can buy a jumbo sized bag of potato chips for one ****ing dollar
then someone like jazzspaz will come in and we'll debate the definition of the word "personal" for 8 pages instead of talking about anything interesting

These national security threats didn't suck enough from their mother's breasts at an important touch point in their life.
Obama: "We also want to focus on the important touch points in a child's life. And what we're learning now is that early intervention is key. Breastfeeding. Kids who are breastfed longer have a lower tendency to be obese."
