Big Al or Boozer?

In terms of production (when healthy) Boozer.

He's a lot better rebounder and scores more.

Defensively... Meh... Boozer was stronger. al is longer. Boozer didn't care. While I'm not sure Al is all that smart...

In terms of chemistry, Al Jefferson. Boozer was a cancer. the team was tired of him. Al just wants to be one of the dudes. While Booz was gonna get his raise, regardless... Regardless of the TEAM.

Boozer was also, a STARTER. Remember that.

Al could have had a similar attitude a few games this year after he had been benched. "I'm a starter."

Instead, he worked on his game and has the Jazz rolling.

The Boozer vs Al debate is over already. Just look @ our road record. Leadership, chemistry, and intensity have risen greatly with Boozer out and Jefferson in.

Hit the nail on the head Thriller.

Totally different team from last season compared to this. We may be better, time will tell, but you can't just credit it to the departure/addition of one player.

...come on, Sloan! Even Stevie Wonder could figure this out! Subtracting Boozer and adding Jefferson has been the key factor in our current success across the board! We are stronger defensively by a substantial margin! Our turnovers are way down, especially at the forward position. Our blocked shots are up. Our winning percentage is up. Our toughness is way up! We are now winning on the road like never before! (well, you have to go back to the Stockton/Malone era at least!) The only thing we lost from Boozer is a significant drop in number of tattoo's on the roster!

its called addition by subtraction

Bingo. The chemistry factor outways the 2 points and 2 rebs per game (which Boozer may or may not have played in the first place) that we're giving up. Al is also a better defensive player, he adds toughness and physicality to the team whereas Boozer took away from it, he's a better fit, and he's improving every game. All those things have allowed the Jazz to take the next step as a team.

Maybe the biggest factor of all = DWill is now the undisputed leader of the team. Think the team has been completely infected with his toughness, competitiveness, etc. Deron's Jazz > Deron/Boozer's Jazz.

Simple answer to this: Jefferson plays defense, Boozer doesn't. While Boozer is probably a better rebounder, Al takes better shots and seldom the kind when there is no one else in position to rebound if he misses.

Offensively the Jazz were a better team against the majority of the league with Boozer (and fwiw Korver), although Al's low-post game makes him more effective against select teams with top-5 centers (Lakers, Magic). Al's passing and side pick-and-pop game has improved dramatically the past 7 games so hopefully that trend will continue over the next several weeks.

Defensively, Al's a better low-post defender and a mediocre-to-average help defender - which is still better than Boozer. The Jazz are actually a better defensive team with Jefferson on the bench so that goes along with the concept that the defensive improvement is due to an overall team mindset and the play of Bell, Watson, Price, and Elson.

The biggest difference is more the intangibles of Deron becoming the undisputed leader of this team. Deron can now impose his basketball personality on the team, which is physical toughness and his tremendous will-to-win. Players now know if they screw up Deron's going to hold them accountable rather than Boozer's positive energy approach. I'm not sure Al's more competitive than Boozer, but Al's more of a follower than a leader - which is what you want at this point.
Letting Deron become the alpha-dog in both the lockerroom and on the court is the main reason the Jazz are on pace to win 60 games, because this team isn't anywhere near as talented or athletic as the 2007-08 team, but they're tougher and more experienced.

Bozz3r's turn around vs AJs push shot. Im satisfied with AJ and our record and id rather have millsap, so as far as the team goes i like aj a better fit, but bozzer prolly has more talent. but with AJs size, they are near equal, cant wait to play the jazz, i mean bulls
