Big News Out of BYU??

I don't think BYU will have any problem filling out their schedule. ESPN alone will take care of several games every year by matching up other high profile teams against BYU just like they brokered the Oklahoma game last year. As long as BYU remains a respectable program they'll have the games.

I haven't heard but is the MWC placing any sort of moratorium on MWC teams playing BYU?

Is that even legal? I'm sure certain teams, TCU for example, certainly aren't going to play us anymore for sure based on their reactions to the previous movement to the WAC fail.

I don't really see a downside to this move by BYU. They will most likely have at minimum the same schedule strength and probably stronger. They won't be on ESPN more often and make more money. The WCC should be just fine for hoops. Gonzaga has done just fine there.

Is this a typo?

I thought the schools had informed the WAC they intend to leave after this season (2010-11), and that (as per the previous post) the WAC was trying to get them to stay through the 2011-12 season.

I'm certain that's an error on the writer's part. No way the WAC can make Fresno and Nevada stay for 3 seasons. Both Fresno and Nevada have said it's either 2011 or 2012.

Nah... They are in a way better conference than the WAC (TCU is still there) and the best teams from the WAC are coming with them.

It would suck to be Utah State though...

Was just going to say this. They definitely aren't as happy as they would have been with Utah and BYU, but they are still in a much better conference now.

Utah St. might come out of this alright too if the MWC wants to keep at least a part of the Utah market. Probably a pipe dream on their part though.

Be honest BYU fans, a year ago (or even a few months ago) if some random Ute fan told you that Utah was joining the PAC 10, and BYU would try to join the WAC, fail, and end up joining the WCC, would you have considered that a good thing for BYU?
