What's new

Bin Laden is dead

Good riddance.

Also, the administration handled it about as perfect as they could...kudos to all.

As predicted, there's liberal as an epithet.

We must agree to disagree on the issue of whether or not torture is ever justified. Although I think this gives the lie to your statements about the role of the state and its relation to the individual. If saying that torture is wrong makes me a liberal then I'll wear the label proudly.

I'll take it one step farther and associate myself with the most Christ-like political speech I've ever seen, which was uttered by a Socialist.

The politics of otherization and the creation of "states of exception" in which all humans have rights except the ones we call our enemies does damage to the souls of us all and should be avoided and condemned. And yes, this is as close to religious as I get.

Just think of the terrorists/criminals as an "unwanted mass of cells" and your bleeding heart will grow cold.

By handling it well, he means they put on a good show. The political theatre needs to stop. If it was an unspectacular invasion, they shot an unarmed Osama who was reaching for a squirt gun, and Obama and his war room were not really watching anything, that's what we want to know. We don't need all these stupid photos of them or Hillary Clinton running her mouth about how intense it was if it never was any of that.

I ****ing love those Pakistani's by the way. They don't believe anything any government tells them. The News reporters that try to interview them always look shell shocked because they won't go along with the narrative. Those are my kind of people. They probably aren't Harvard Grads, but they are ****ing dirt road smart.

We exposed our super secret stealth copter, and in fact left one behind, and then ran our mouths alerting the al Qeada network that we had copious amounts of data on them and where they might be and what they are up to.

Nothing like losing your top secret weapon and then showing everyone your cards. Brilliant!

I had read somewhere that they blew the copter up before they got outta Dodge.

Yes, but I did see pictures of the Pakistani military picking up the pieces and trucking them somewhere.
I'm sure they will find something to reverse engineer.
They should have blown it to smithereens, instead of into large chunks.
Then again, maybe the copter was so awesome it couldn't be blown to bits.... but then again if it was so awesome it wouldn't have malfunctioned.

Do you know how I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that waterboarding absolutely did not result in the capture of Osama bin Laden?

Because the government stopped waterboarding people in 2005. I'm not sure most conservatives have noticed, but bin Laden was caught in 2011.

If it was really that effective at obtaining information quickly, why did it take 6 years to capture the dude?

*edit: had my years wrong, the point is still valid

Also, to anyone whining that President Bush isn't getting enough credit: Do you know why he's not getting much praise?

Because he failed to capture Osama bin Laden. You don't get credit if you fail. Barack Obama succeeded where George Bush FAILED.
