Lots of really bad Hayward takes. Cy is the only one I agree with.

Hayward was really good. I’ve always been a bit sad that we didn’t get to see Donovan and Hayward on the floor together. But I think Bojan fills most of the hole Hayward left at the position (but I’m not sure cause I’ve never really seen Bojan play.)

The summer of 2017 I felt like Hayward was a max player but was one of the worst max players. I’m very happy the Jazz are paying Bojan $17 million vs Hayward as a max. I’m like 60/40 that Hayward will be a better player than Bojan this year, but that’s cause I’m a Jazz homer. I bet it should be more like 75/25.

You forgot to mention that Haywood was given, like, three years to grow into that featured role. Whereas Bojan put up those numbers basically overnight.

They start Kemba, Tatum, Brown, and likely Kanter (bwah ha ha ha ha) the fifth starter is either Gordon as a 4 or Smart as kinda a 2. That lineup likely needs Smart's defense. Having a prime defender like Marcus come off the bench seems like a waste (since most guys you want a stopper on are starters).

So do they bench Tatum or Brown? Brown is a free agent, is going through contract negotiations right now on an extension. Tatum is extension eligible. They have both been in trade rumors forever... and Danny couldn't nab a star. So they likely get re-signed... but what if they are benched for the golden boy?

I think Gordon is likely the odd man out but could also see Smart or Brown coming off the bench, but it might cause more disfunction. One of the reasons players were not happy was all the efforts that went into getting Hayward going. I think there is like a 40% chance he's a starter.

I think Brown is basically on his way out tbh.

Hayward’s last season with the Jazz he was clearly superior except for shooting. Every other year you could argue but his all star year he was a beast. A douche-beast

Bojan is several steps below as a defender, athlete, finisher, and playmaker.

Bojan is a much better shooter (maybe a better iso player?), but that's about it. Maybe he can step up the playmaking and defense up in Utah, but it will likely never be as good as Hayward.

Hayward was a much better passer and defender and if you can’t see that then hate blinds you to simple reality. Bojan is a dead-eye shooter with a ton of guile, and for those reasons is a better off-ball player, possibly just a better scorer in general.

If Hayward were on the Jazz right now instead of Bojan, would he be "featured" like he was in his last Jazz season? He certainly would be paid as such.

And yes, being the #1 option on an offense is germaine to comparing offensive statistics.

Overall, last Jazz season Hayward is better than last year's Bojan. It is possible that Bojan has a better season this year, because current Hayward is NOT appreciably better than Bojan. Once you factor in salary, the comparison becomes laughable.
