on topic: i knew it wasd a mistake the way they handled mathews. mathews stats seem bad this year but they are actually better than advertised cus limping ballhog roy when he played was ballhogging the ball and mathews was rotting on the bench. if you take those games away mathews is near all star
YEp streaky shooter matthews had a good game today. Last time we played he went 4-14 with 5 turnovers. If you like streaky players matthews is your guy. Must like cj and j r smith too.
Streaky weaky. Through 20 games as a starter, Wes is averaging 19.4 points on 47% shooting, including 39% 3PT, and 85% FT. That's about as consistent shooting numbers as Deron and much better than any of our wings.
He's also getting 5.7M this year, not 7.2M. It won't get to that until five years from now. 24-year-old Wes has proven to be at least worth mid-level money.
Just face the fact that not keeping Wes was a big time screw-up by the front office.
Excellent point, but the kicker here is that AK's contract is about to expire. It's only this year that we need to worry about its amount and all the luxury tax troubles it puts us in. And this year Wes actually took a CAP hit of 5.5 mil, which only 1.5 mil less than Raja and Elson, whom we signed instead of keeping Wes. So, while your assertion that we could have kept Wes if we didn't have AK seems reasonable, we could have still kept Wes if we chose him over Raja and Elson, two old farts near retirement.
Where is DWill Pwn Rex, he is the one that said why does everyone on Jazzfanz worship Wes. I told you guys we would miss Wes very badly and to match it b/c we would miss his defense, shooting, hustle and ability to create a shot but everyone said "Oh, let Portland suffer with this terrible contract and bye bye Wes, your not worth that money
