Kawhi is past his prime. I hope the Spurs bamboozle the Warriors to get Klay and another piece for him.

You mean like no team was willing to trade for Paul George even though the rumors have had him going to LA?Colin Cowherd has a good point. No team would want to rent Kawhi for one year. It kind of forces San Antonio to trade him to the Lakers. Unless they let him walk for nothing or team wants to give up a lot for one year.
Kawhi's camp is VERY smart in this.
By making it known that he only wants to go to the Lakers, no other team will be willing to give up major assets for him. It's like Kawhi is forcing the Spurs hand. If the Spurs don't trade him? He'll just wait out 1 more year and sign with the Lakers in Free Agency.
I see 2 scenarios:
Either the Spurs trade Kawhi to a team other than the Lakers and get less assets in return. Or trade Kawhi to the Lakers knowing they could form a super team later.
The ball's in the Spurs court now.
All it takes is one team to think they can convince him and that backfires. It's a gambit on their part and not a good one. Kawhi is still arguably a top 5 player in the league and there will be calls from ALOT of teams. If one package is better than what the Lakeshow offers, than it's done. Kawhi will have no choice in the matter.
Yeah but what team is gonna give up A LOT for him?
Let's say the Lakers are willing to give up Ingram and Kuzma and maybe the #25th pick this year's draft. What other team is willing to give up MORE than that package for the possibility of a 1 year rental for Kawhi?
Nobody wanted to rent Paul George for a year either... Until the thunder did.Colin Cowherd has a good point. No team would want to rent Kawhi for one year. It kind of forces San Antonio to trade him to the Lakers. Unless they let him walk for nothing or team wants to give up a lot for one year.
