Pretty sure he is right. They can trade him on December 15th or something like that but cannot trade him to the Jazz for 1 year from the day he signed, or something like that.

I hope Wes goes gangbusters. He's a great kid and a helluva player. But keeping him for that price would have been wrong.

I don't think that's right.

The rule is that if the Jazz had matched on Matthews, they couldn't trade him to Portland for a year. I don't think it works the other way around. The Blazers should be able to trade him to any team beginning December 29.

When Portland signed him I thought they were stupid. Now that it looks like Roy's career may be a very short one, they may have been smarter than we thought.

Well I would not call Portland smart. They extended Roy even though he had health issues. This is the same franchise that drafted Sam Bowie over Jordan even though Bowie had fractured his leg/ankle in college, traded the #3 pick because they already had a PG Telfair, and then passed on Durrant for a broken down center Oden who had a sketchy medical history prior to the draft.

Getting Wes wasn't some planned event, but in the end the Blazers come out looking smart but I would say more luck than brains.

do people think before they post? haywards rookie season jazz played around 10 games. Takes longer than that to be a superstar unless you are a top 3 best player.
