Bring back Wes

Would we love to have wes back? of course, but can't really dwell on it, just hope that raja get's better as the season moves along and i think he will

If I was given the chance to choose Wes or Hayward straight up for a dollar, I'd choose Hayward. That's no knock on Matthews who I think is going to be a valuable sub for a long time. But Wes' ceiling is obvious. Limited athleticism and build, limited skills, infinite hustle and heart. What little I've seen of Hayward shows me he has more size, talent, and upside than Wes can dream of. He may not realize it. And Wes would most likely help us more THIS year. But Hayward will be the better player before it's done.

the game he played for blazers tonight begs to differ.
42 minutes as starter 11-19fg 5-103pters 3rbs 3 assist 3steals 1block and 30 points.

i'd rather have wes then ak.

you my friend got pwned by matthews

Wes over AK? That's too silly to even address. Wes had a wonderful game against Memphis. One of those nights. I hope, for our sake, Portland thinks he should start permanently. That would be wonderful.

one of those nights. lets see what he does with 30-40 minuutes a night as roy is done for the time being

It’s likely Matthews could well be the one who got away. Sure, Matthews was signed for Millsap money but isn’t the MLE the going rate for a starting SG who could probably bring around 15ppg and solid defense.

The Jazz right now are paying the equivalent of close to Matthews’ salary this year for the collection of a washed-up Bell and scrubs like Watson and Elson, when matching Wes plus a couple of cheaper 3rd stringers would’ve probably been a better deal. And with next year AK’s max coming off the books and Okur an expiring, they could’ve adjusted other signings accordingly.

I started this Bring back Wes thread before Matthews’ 30-point, 5 3-pointer game, hoping Portland might still think he wasn’t a good fit. Oh well.

I don't think that's right.

The rule is that if the Jazz had matched on Matthews, they couldn't trade him to Portland for a year. I don't think it works the other way around. The Blazers should be able to trade him to any team beginning December 29.

Could be that. Sorry.
