Burks or Hood?

I've already stated my preference for Burks in the starting lineup and last night further convinced me. Our offense is so much more dynamic with his slashing ability out there.

This............... is what i have been saying for years. Burks provides something that is lacking in the starting lineup without him. Dynamic slashing. Plus he will get the other teams starters in foul trouble, which is nice.

--That said, if it were up to me, I'd start Hood-Burks-Hayward.

If were Quin, I'd be very tempted to do exactly that - screw the PG position and just start the five best guys. That is clearly Burks, Hood, Gordon, Favors and Rudy.

Well I think Snyder is looking at exactly that. He is trying 3 wing rotations. We say Hayward-Hood Burks in game 1 and Hood-Millsap-Burks in game 2. So he is looking at the lineup that some on here are calling for and then taking it a step further.

This could be bad for Cotton and Withey's play doomed Cooley.

I think Burks will probably start, given how he's playing. He's doing a good job of using his ability to blow by defenders to set guys up with the pass, as well as get to the rim and get to the line. He's not as one-dimensional as he used to be. He has the ability to be a focal point on offense, like a James Harden-lite, and this is something the Jazz need--a guy that doesn't need Hayward to set him up.

Probably Trey Burke will get the start at PG, but Quin can sub in Hood, Millsap or Ingles and go with the 3-wing approach as early as the first substitution. Part of it may depend on how Burke is shooting.

The Jazz seem serious about this early offense strategy, and Burks might be the best open-floor player we have. So that could give him a nod over Hood in the starting line-up. Burks plays a bit faster.

The 3-wing line-up would mostly take minutes away from Neto, I'd expect. Neto has to show he can score a bit.

That's the most compelling point I've seen thus far for starting Burks. Not just his scoring, but also his ability to get to the stripe and limit opposing starters with foul trouble.

Hood's advantage is his mid-range game and the mature-beyond-his-years timing. He can control plays like the best point guards. But that may be more valuable in the second unit than in the starting lineup because of Hayward. Then all three can finish games together.

Even though Hood has some playmaking skills some of his shots are pretty questionable in the lane. He can make them but I'm not sure its winning basketball to force a 10" shot over an outreached hand every time. I think he should pass off the Hayward or Burks if the 3 isn't there, and retreat back behind the 3 point line. If neither Hayward or Burks is in, sure, do your best to create something.

Hood should absolutely take advantage of his size and shooting from mid-range. It makes him a very dangerous weapon and creates all kinds of opportunities for others.

He's a smart player, and he is very free with his passes.
