What's new

Burks will be Rookie of the year.

It's possible. Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson seem to be the most likely though as they will have 0 competition for time.

I must admit that i have never hyped up a Jazz rookie more than Alec Burks. I'm pretty sold on the guy.

I remember seeing Wade in college thinking, that guy is going to be a stud in the NBA. like, he's going to be really good. i get the same feeling with Burks, except i don't think he'll ever actually be as good as Wade.

I remember someone predicted Burks would be ROY on NBATV. That was before the Jazz selected him though.

Burks isn't gonna find as much playing time as a ROY should have. Probably Irving is the best candidate but we will see. Anyway i dont believe ROY will come out of our team, not Burks nor Kanter

If Burks is good enough to win ROY he will get the playing time to do so. I hope he is but not convinced yet. This all sounds so familiar to what was being said about Ronnie Brewer when we drafted him. Where is DutchJazz when we need him?

I actually think Burks is good enough to win ROY. Look at the other canidates, no one really jumps off the page to me as a clear cut favorite.

Irving? He had 11 game freshman career. His team isn't any good (hurt his APG and efficiency) and he still has to play alongside BARON DAVIS of all people.

Williams? He is on a team loaded with 3's , 4's, and 3/4's.

Kanter? Stuck behind a lot of big men

Tristan Thompson? Could surprise people. Extreme hustle may give him some impressive rebounding numbers. Will he be stuck behind Jamison though?

Jonas Valanciunas? Clear favorite (JUST A JOKE SEPANOL, I know he isn't playing this year).

Jan Vesely? The guy can't shoot and will be compete for minutes with guys like Josh Howard, Rashard Lewis, Andray Blatche.

Brandon Knight? Also stuck behind a lot of players like Stuckey, Gordon, Hamilton at the 1 & 2.

Walker? DJ Augistin is still in town.

Jimmer? Possible, can catch fire at any point and has a direct line to starting.

Biyombo? No way

Klay Thompson? Doubtful, especially as long as Monta Ellis is in town

Morris Twins? Lol

Leonard? Possible darkhorse. They traded George Hill who is a stud for him, so they see something in him.

Rubio? Possible, but can he put up the points?

Burks has a pretty good chance just because the field looks kind of weak in terms of immediate impact.

^^^ Good post and I agree completely. This year, more than any in recent memory, seems up in the air ..

Plus, Burks should be ahead of Bell in the rotation by week 2 and, imo, is already better than Miles, so he should easily get 25+ minutes.

My biggest questions about him are how well he plays with the team (I could see him being a chucker) and what kind of effort he will put out. Like in Locke's video, he could be 'too cool for school' on the defensive end. I think the skill set is already there and I agree, he should be ahead of Raja and is probably better or equal to Miles offensively right now.
