What's new

Burks will become very important

Burks would be quite the tank commander. It would be a throwaway year giving him a huge offensive role but might end up with us getting a draft pick with superstar potential. DL could "play dumb" selling the casual fan on Burks being able to handle his new role.

Most athletic player on the team with speed and hops to burn. He could take anyone off the dribble. That is a talent you can't teach.
What good is athleticism if you can't finish? And can't pass once your attacking and in trouble? He is also not as adept at taking people off of the dribble and you make it sound. He takes off balance horrible shots from bad positions and every once in a while it goes in. The only thing he's good at is drawing fouls, but not enough to make up for the other flaws in his game.

As for speed and hops to burn, He's athletic and fast, but he's not good enough at the other areas of the game for it to matter. Also he's the worst defender on the team. Even before his injuries this was the case. I'd even say Mack is better on defense than him as well as Hood.

Evans was once the most athletic player on the team. Is he even in the league anymore?

Let's trade him for the rights to Jimmer.

Actually work with a dude that grew up on the same street as Jeremy. Knows him real well... said he's going to his basketball camp this weekend in small town arkansas. Hell I should go ask him what's up. Said he's been playing overseas.

If I was coaching Alec I'd make him run bleachers after every crash-to-the-floor layup.

I don't want to get into what kind of player he may or may not be or still turn into BUT with the increase of contracts/salary cap, I just don't see how Burks' contract is bad at all. Obviously injuries have kept him from playing so the Jazz are getting no value out of his salary space but I'm not holding that against him .

He had his leg shot up with stem cells before the Jazz totally shut him down. If those things can heal him we might have a bargain here.

He needs to develop a floater using the backboard and shots like Kyrie Irving, instead of going on top of the rim, double-clutching into the defender and crashing into the floor. That's why he's constantly getting hurt.

this .. if Gordon doesn't come back, throw in the Burks - Exum starting backcourt, Lyles at 3 and see what happens

I was super hyped when we drafted Burks, holding out hope that he would turn things around. I'm starting to give up on him. Would love to see him develop but I really think hes a bust.
We shouldnt trade him now though, need to see if he can get any kind of trade value, at this point I dont think any team would take him without us taking on a bad contract

It all depends on what the Jazz decide to do this offseason. If they make some moves that cost some money and then extend Hayward, Hill and Ingles. . . Burks becomes the most likely candidate to provide cap relief. I'm all for them keeping him if they don't make a bunch of expensive moves and see if he can rehab his value. Health is his biggest issue. Even though I like him a lot and I've been rooting for him to bounce back, I don't see him in the team's long term plans (unfortunately.) The reality is that Hayward, Gobert and (probably) Hill are going to eat up a big chunk of the salary cap. Jazz will have to move on from expensive guys who don't contribute at a starter level.
