Burks=Young Wade

Has the first-step, the natural quickness and elevation, but that craftiness and body control around the rim is what could make him special imo.
You see it in his rebounding and defense as well; he seems completely unfazed by the speed and physicality of the NBA. Who was the last Jazz rookie that was true of?

Fair enough. Burks' skills blow Ronnie's out of the water though. I'm not expecting anything remotely close to Wade, but it should be fun watching Burks develop.
I cannot allow myself to make this correlation yet. Because... JESUS.

Someone mentioned Favors and Burks as future All-stars, I would include Kanter after tonight's performance. People just don't realize what Kanter is doing in limited minutes and the fact he hasn't played organized basketball for two years. Throw in no training camp, summer league and being a rookie and his performance was just amazing to me. Of course it is more lunch pail then Burks' performance but just as impressive. Burks' is going to end up the steal of his draft class and I think the sky is the limit for him. Man I love our young guys.

I think we have our starting 5, 4, 2 and 6th man (Hayward with about 30 a game) of the future already set That is a damn good start.

Not saying that Burks is an exact copy of Wade but I believe that's the best comparison of his game. Wade has a body designed for basketball though with his very long and strong arms. And I agree that Burks has that innate ability to react well around the rim giving himself extra chances at baskets.

We definitely have some, I just don't think it makes sense to trade the ones we have. When I see threads that suggest we trade pieces that we know to be excellent, we would be trading what we know to be good for what we hope to be good here. That's a different thread though.

I see the D-Wade comparison, as far as his skill set goes. It seems like a number of posters are assuming that Burks will never lift weights in a meaningful or lasting way. He can gain 20 lbs of muscle in the next two years. That's not unreasonable. The challenge is keeping it, as basketball games and practices tend to be pure cardio, which certainly doesn't help you retain muscle mass. These guys can pretty much eat like horses during the season and they'll stay pretty thin -- Tractor Traylor notwithstanding.

Being on the East Coast, I haven't gotten to see too much of Burks since earlier in the season when he was turning the ball over, failing to finish at the basket, and not making his free throws. It's been a pleasure to see his game develop, albeit at a distance and in the box scores. But hey, if Burks hits the gym regularly during his career, he should be able to have the body to complement his game...and then...the sky's the limit.

...d wade has more hops!...

I disagree

Both players are like a good beer.

Both have plenty of hops
