What's new

Burks

I've watched a lot of Marshon Brooks this year. It looked like he was going to be another one dimensional rookie, but this guy is getting scary good and fast. He's a dead eye jump shooter who can also put the ball on the floor and score from many angles. He also a good passer and rebounds very well for a 2.

I know Irving gets all the hype but right now this kid is a close two for ROY.

I'm not going to look up my old posts saying I thought Brooks was going to be really good.
I remember most of the posts against him were that he could be a headcase, and that he thinks he's the 2nd coming of Jordan, only better.

So far he does look pretty good.
I would say I wish we took him, but I think Burks has grown on me.

Being a Providence alum (Class of '00), I like what Marshon Brooks brought to PC. He was a steal where he was taken in the draft. I was hoping the Jazz would realize how valuable he was, but I like Burks' upside. I think he's a real talent, and a better all-around talent than Marshon.

When it comes to scoring, I really don't think that's been a problem before or since Ben Handlogten was getting serious minutes. It's defense that the Jazz (as a team) have been lacking for some time. Not this year. Not now. I love it. So, yeah, I like Marshon a ton, but we have a greater need for what Burks brings to the table.

How so? As in, what exactly DOES Burks bring to the table that Brooks doesn't, and if there's anything, does that offset what Brooks does better than Burks (almost everything to this point, apparently)?

Is it just me, or is Alec Burks not as tall as advertised? He looks more like 6'3, 6'4, instead of 6'6. I know all nba players are listed taller than they really are but he looks alot shorter.

He was measured at 6'5'' w/o shoes, and 6'6'' with shoes. He's a legit 6'6'', it seems (and has a higher standing reach than Gordo).

Also has a 6' 10" wingspan (that obviously feeds into standing reach, still worth noting, IMO).

Right now the only thing Burks is better at than Brooks is that he is 2.5 years younger.

Burks just oozes talent. I have no doubt he'll be an elite driver in the league. Not very confident in his jumpshot, though. It's real flat. Like he flicks it. But it will be fun watching his development.

Only because we know he can drive and get to the line does this make me happy, but it was refreshing to see him drain those two long jumpers in the first half tonight.

I like Burks a lot. He is way ahead where Hayward was last year at this time.

I also like the competition amongst Hayward/Miles/Burks for minutes. Competition is good. I
