Athleticism is more then just a speed. He is weak and has below average vertical. I would say he is average athlete at best at this stage. Doesn't mean he can't get better, but that is yet to be seen.

Interesting nonsequitur about his re-signing.

Jazz rarely make a mistakes evaluating talent when it comes to resigning rookies with all star potential after their cheap contracts are over. I think one such mistake O'Connor made and publicly admitted as his biggest was Mo Williams. Do you remember any other examples? Again, my point by year 4 Jazz will see that they missed with Exum and will let him walk. Then hopefully thelleiken will walk as well.

Dante's shooting and confidence in his shot improved throughout his rookie year. There is nothing that says that it won't continue to improve. His stamina will improve, jumping from high school basketball to the NBA as an 18 year old is a huge physical leap. Not sure what you mean by his explosiveness being average, he's not an above the rim player, but he has one of the most explosive first steps in basketball. Once he learns to be in attack mode, he will get to the rim whenever he wants. He's injury prone after one freak injury? Lol, ok. And that killer instinct can come in time. What did you expect from a 18 year old rookie coming from high school to the NBA?

I'm already aware of what CARMELO thinks. Not surprising that the system thinks that about him because they have such a small sample size to go by. Really means nothing. The creators of the system said themselves that it's hard for the system to judge young players with small sample sizes.

And wrong about explosiveness. He has a elite acceleration/ first step. Plus you are ignoring lateral quickness.

All one can reasonably conclude about this 20 year old is a wide range of outcomes. To pretend to predict with precision is folly.

This fanbase has an incredibly embarrassing talent evaluating ability. It's the main reason the organization has been able to sell a stinking load of **** for 2 decades straight. Unfortunately, now fans have resigned themselves to the concept that championship in Utah is not possible so they're hoping for mediocrity at best.

you know he did play in 82 games his rookie season without injury right ???

I'm curious what it is you think you know that the whole Jazz organization from the front office, coaching staff down don't know about this guy that means he will be such a bust ? Are you at all the practices to see what he is capable of ? Weird weird rookie season but if you really think this current Jazz coaching staff / management are so wrong about their unanimous unwavering belief that's a big statement.

Better potential? Absolutely.

Exum has more potential than anyone on the roster. Elite athlete, elite measureables, already good on defense, we saw his shot improve throughout his rookie year, he can get to the rim whenever he wants. Nobody else on the roster touches his potential as an offensive AND defensive player. It just comes down to whether he reaches it or not. I'd put Gobert second on that list. Hood and Lyles on the next tier. Favors and Hayward are what they are at this point. Their potential has been reached, no significant improvements are coming.

I think both Hood and Lyles have far more potential than Gobert. I don't think he'll ever be a star. I don't think he has the offensive tools to be more than an average offensive player. I think his defense is as good as it's ever likely to get, it's really good so that's not a bad thing. I think Gobert is the most over rated Jazz player in a long while.
