Oh, one more thing--I really liked the option. They used it a bit too much over the course of the game, but especially at the start of the game it was really effective.
It was a good game one of the season. There was rust at times, and they looked great at times.
Most of all I liked the defense. They did not allow much in the way of YAC, and they got good pressure on Tuel, or Tool or whatever the QB's name was.
Riley looked good on his throws over the middle when in the pocket, his scramble throws are iffy, and his down the field throws are frisbees.
The running backs looked good, believe it or not I was most impressed with Foote, he seemed to move well bounce off tackles at times and push through for the extra yards.
Like others have said, some of the running play calls, and calls in general were not good.
Also, as was mentioned, the refs were terrible. They called celebration and personal fouls in excess. I could see those calls on a couple plays, but not nearly as many as they called.
I'm worried about defenses that can catch those lame ducks Riley throws up there.
Good game, it tells us a little, but not much. Wash St was out of sync, and did not play well.
You may want to focus on beating Wazzu in week 1 before making that proclimation. All trash talking aside, I think they will be causing teams problems this year. Mike Leach is the mad hatter of college football and he's actually inheriting a team with some really nice offensive weapons. They've got some really nice WR's on that roster and a couple of good QB's. Add to that the fact that Mendenhall teams seem to start off slow each season and I think BYU could find themselves in a dog fight week 1.
Both BYU and Utah are lucky they're both getting this team on their home fields. I think Wazzu has a few upsets in them this year.

I'm going Oklahoma/Utep U 62.5 for my bet this week for real though. I'm just going to play one a week for fun and see what happens.
Foote was nice and so was the TEs who are now getting healthy but Ridley was the biggest surprise to me.
Umm, yeah, that was a rough one...
I obviously overestimated Mike Leach. That team has a ways to go. It seriously looked like theg had no spring or fall practices. Props to BYU, they looked much better than I thought they would. Two weeks from now @ RES is going to be very interesting. I think its a lock that BYU can improve on last years 44 point loss.
Concentrate on Utah St. little brother. You folks need to survive that game first.... Or risk being blown out. If Wynn's 2012 season isn't over this week, it surely will be in a few weeks. Van Noy is going to break a few quarterbacks this year.
