BYU to the Big 12 discussion???

I feel like the Jazz just lost a game and had Raja Bell and Chucker getting the majority of the minutes while Hayward and Evans rotted on the bench. This reeks of Jerry Sloan style coaching. Play the 'vet' or the guy who has 'heart' forgetting about the talent on the bench that MUST be brought along in order to save future seasons. Believe what you want about Heaps, his attitude, his 'entitlement issues', and all of that other nonsense that Thriller's extra-chromosomical brain makes up (he's never provided one shred of proof about any of Heaps supposed character flaws), but that doesn't change the fact that HE should be playing right now, because it is CLEAR to anyone who watched that game that Nelson is the Matt Harpring of BYU. We were going to lose that game no matter what, so why the hell aren't we playing the guy who actually HAS the skill? (even though it hasn't come out in a game yet) A lot of people learn by getting knocked down, getting back up, getting knocked back down, getting back up again, etc. Is Heaps that guy? Who knows -- in stead of finding out, we get to watch Riley F'ing Nelson make stupid play after stupid play, run his hand through his uber-gay buttcrack hairdo, LOFT wounded duck passes to open defensive players, and... ya, high-five refs. (which made me laugh my *** off, but wow, what a buffoon.

Let me clarify, I don't like Heaps. I think he has some serious mental blocks going on. He has the skill, but just can't break through. There is little chance he can break through, imo, during his time at BYU if he's starting, but there is ZERO chance that he will sitting on the bench. I'd rather lose with Heaps trying to fix his flaws than lose watching Nelson throw interceptions and laterals.

Nelson >> Heaps

That's certainly true right now. And it may well be true in terms of maximum potential as well. If it were a sure thing that Heaps would eventually be better than Nelson, then I'd be with you. But based on how much (or little) Heaps improved from last year to this year, it's by no means a sure thing.

Edit: and I think it's an easier fix to get Nelson not to throw the bad interceptions and laterals, then it is to get Heaps to fix all of the things that are wrong with his game.

About that lateral. I put just as much blame on the TE that was trying to receive it. After he dropped it, he laid on the ground and did not attempt to reach out and grab the ball, then after a second he tries to push himself up, a TCU player gets to the ball. If the TE just reached those flagpole arms out and grabbed the ball while laying down BYU would have had possession. That's the way I saw it.
Riley only gets half the blame for trying too hard to make something happen.

It's probably not even worth debating at this point. Nelson is going to be the QB for BYU until his eligibility runs out and I don't think anybody will expect Heaps to sit around and wait.

On the subject of Heaps, if he were to transfer to Utah (he won't, I know, but for the sake of my post) I would welcome it with open arms.

I wouldn't. He's worse than Wynn. And if Wynn gets hurt we have QB's coming in and a true Freshman in Shreve that I'd rather see play than Heaps.

From what I have seen of Heaps I would not want him. He can't play any other position and he's not good enough to be a starting QB against BYU's schedule let alone against the pac-12.

I almost always agree with you on **** but you're a dumbass here when it comes to football. If Thriller has an extra chromosome, you're short a loaf's worth.

It's only my opinion, but I don't agree.

Heaps biggest obstacle isn't himself, it's his pansy-*** coach. He succeeded handily until he got to BYU. He's very talented, but he needs a coach who isn't afraid to call him out.

But really, it's moot. There's no way he ends up at Utah.

That's your best argument? That he succeeded handily in high school? So have thousands of others who later were unable to cut it at the next level. Dude sucks and is a headcase. It's no coincidence that he went to a Skyline High School.

So how was his H.S. Coach? Did he call him out?

Link?

Who's arguing? I stated an opinion. I don't have to justify it to your satisfaction.

I like Heaps and think he can succeed in the right environment. So what?

Nothing other than the fact that the basis for your opinion blows. Success in high school means ****.

I don't disagree with you at all. I know less about football than I do basketball, and that's saying something. Luckily, this isn't really about football, but more about common sense. In that regard, I dominate.

I'm torn on that. On one hand, why waste time with a BYU flunkie? On the other hand, Bronco has badly mismanaged the QB situation since Heaps arrival and if for some reason he did end up at Utah and turned out to be successful, it may finally lead to the mass suicide in Utah Valley that will be necessary to thin the heard and hopefully reset the gene pool.

Bwahaha! That is quality smack right there, something rare amongst the ******* Utah crowd.

Thanks. Your opinion means so much to me. I elaborated a little more in the Ute discussion thread, if your interested.

What does a NJ **** care about my opinion anyway?

You almost had me converted until "heard" came out your keyboard.
So close.
