Can someone please summarize how his contract works again? When is the guarantee date each year any how much gets guaranteed? Assuming the date hasn't happened yet, why wouldn't NOP just cut him?

20% of his future salary gets guaranteed if he passes all 6 weight checkpoints during the year. Unclear what happens if he gets waived before all checkpoints are done.
40% is guaranteed when 41 games, if he gets waived before he loses the money.
20% 51 games
20% 61 games

Everything is based on the previous season benchmarks, so if he hit these in 25/26 then 26/27 is guaranteed for that percentage.

I think Zion is the embodiment of the term broken goods.

He makes AD look like iron man, if you compare their (age) corresponding seasons.

With all the protections/incentives built into the contract (more than I’ve ever heard of before) I think its worth it for cap space only. If he meets his marks, he’s going to be worth the money, if he doesn’t he doesn’t get paid. The only concern I’d have is I assume that on the books you have to reserve the whole contract vs the cap, so it will limit flexibility going forward.
