Can The Ainges Resist Zion?

I would want Zion almost strictly as a tank move with some upside. Like if we are allowed to sit him the rest of the year or close to it I would consider it.

I would need to know more about him personally. Its fine if you want to ho around I suppose. I just don't know if he takes basketball seriously. I think we do have some good stuff brewing that Zion could disrupt. Again this is more about how serious/focused he is on ball vs just ho-ing around. The ho-ing around... diet stuff and just general immaturity are all manifestations of a potential commitment issue. Maybe in a different environment some of that changes but I think you have to think you can get through to him.

Luck, maturity, and being with a B-tier organization rather than an F-tier.
Is Zion's maturity in the room with us? If so, it is hiding very well!

And B-tier organizations do not seriously consider a Hail Mary-type of projects that MAY turn out well based on luck and never-before-seen maturity. The B-tier organizations have a much clearer path to success by tanking well, drafting well and developing well. The Jazz of Ryan Smith is not a B-tier organization.

I mean, Zion looks like he's in good shape currently.

Probably a big no Very risky to bring him in and spend time with Jazz players
Jazz are giving up some decent character players for a very risky one

If you’re an organization like the Jazz that can’t attract decent free agents and you have a chance to get Zion relatively cheaply, I’d be all over it. Going from a joke to a serious organization should only help him. Imagine a front line of Zion, Lauri and Kessler if Kessler’s shooting is real. Keyonte in the backcourt and hopefully a decent pick this year. A lot of ‘ifs’, but the Jazz can’t always play it safe and be patient. Besides, his contract offers some outs if things go wrong.

So why is his own team ready to dump Zion for free even though "he's in better shape"? And why are other teams not fighting to drive his price up from "free" if there is not much risk?
Well we don't know hes free, just that the league is starting to think that might be true.
