Comparing someone everyone says is our go-to guy late in the shot clock to previous go-to guys. The late in the shot clock excuse doesn't hold water. Plenty of go-to guys in the league get the ball late in the shot clock and still shoot a decent percentage. It is no longer a valid excuse for cj's poor shooting. He is simply a crappy shooter.

He is our go-to scorer off the bench. Either him or Howard. Compare him to Shandon Anderson or something.

I hate it when he gets into chucking mode, but lately he's really doing a good job of driving to the basket. Yes, I know, we've seen this fool's gold before, but maybe he'll be more consistent with it.

Yesterday he did get a bit back into chuck mode, but it felt more acceptable as he was also being aggressive as well. It's probably near that fine line of being good and being a ballhog.

Go-to guy is a go-to guy. Are you trying to say that since he is just the GO-TO guy off the bench he is somehow exempted from being expected to shoot a serviceable percentage?

Go-to guy from the bench...ok, how about Ginobili? Career .373 from 3 and .450 from the field. His best year from 3? .519 this season.

How about Hayward, since he was kind of our go to guy last season while CJ was sucking it up. Last season his only full season, he shot .473 from 3 and .485 from the field. His career numbers are .407 and .461.

How about Korver? Another go-to guy for us off the bench. .412 from 3 career, .431 from the field. Best season? .536 from 3. And he shot a ton at the end of the shot clock.

So let's look at Shandon Anderson. Another guy a little like Iguodala. Career .316 from 3, but .457 from the field. Best season? .511 from 3.

The point is, if you are the go-to guy, off the bench or whatever, then you won't stay the go-to guy for long if you can't shoot. Unless your name is CJ Miles for whatever reason. The late shot clock excuse is dead. What is the next one?

I think the point that all the CJ haters are trying to make is why do we have to keep settling for this clown year after year after year after year, hoping he will improve? It Nuts! Not really true. There is ONE hater in here who can't acknowledge Chucker's 1 out of 7 good games. So please, do the REAL haters a favor, and don't lump us all in with Mountain/Rainhut/cherbear/douchnugget.

I sure did enjoy all that slashing and getting to the line... only to shoot 50% from the stripe.

Every so often I run the Jazz season numbers through my magic spreadsheet to look at the player's per-minute production, and I was surprised by what I found in the latest version. Miles is leading the team in FTA/min - something I thought I'd never, ever see, given his career mark is less than half his current rate. Last year was his previous best in FTA/Min by a long way, but he has surpassed even that by a long, long way. Could we be seeing actual year-on-year improvement in at least this facet of his game? Also, his FT% for the year is not bad, 75.5%, good for second on the team (discounting Bell's 3-3 effort). Howard is a very close second in FTA/min stakes, and his 88.9 FT% leads the team. Burks is third in FTA/min, and is shooting FTA at 74.2%, 4th best in the team.

Lastly, when watching the games, Boler and Harp are always very excited when Millsap steals the ball and rave about how he has improved this facet of his game. And well they should, he is ranked #2 in STL/min on the team, racking up thefts at a rate that you normally only see from ball-hawking guards. But what is really surprising is who leads the team - that's right, CJ Miles leads the team in STL/min. Again, this is a massive leap from his career mark, and well over 50% from his rate the past two seasons. Could we be seeing another area of improvement, is he getting better at reading the play defensively?

CJ's defense seems to have improved somewhat, and the steals is a possible sign.

But this is an argument of chucks vs. robbers, if you will. He might be defending "at a higher level", to paraphrase Bronco Mendenrobot, but I'll believe that he's not a chucker when his FG% comes up a bit more and stays there.

Looking at all the stats and trying to find a way to believe that the Clown CJ Miles is improving, is a form of insanity. Every year, year after year, the CJ hopers keep trying to find good news. THIS INSANE EXPERIMENT SHOULD END!
