A dull, almost silent roar rumbles faintly in the background. The earth slightly shifts beneath your feet, just enough to make you question if it's actually moving at all. A chill that you cannot account for runs up your back. The happening is upon us.

Yes Jazz fans, we have just entered the 24-to-36 hour window that's going to shape our beloved franchise easily for the next 5 years. I won't claim to know what is happening but I will proclaim with supreme confidence that between this very moment and the end of the 1st round tomorrow night, every single Jazz fan will be staring at their computer/tv/radio, mouth agape, in utter disbelief of what just happened. These are crazy times in the NBA. Perhaps the craziest we've ever seen. If you're a team that's "close" to contending and you have a franchise star whose decision hangs in the balance, you can't dip your toe in the water. You're either all in, or you're packing it in. Content to not chase the Warriors and start a rebuild that will grow during GS dominance and hopefully peak during GS decline. We are hours, maybe minutes away from finding out if Utah is all in, or all out.

Good thread and good OP.

I have this feeling that the jazz are going to have a roster that is better than last season's roster by the end of summer.

That's all I can ask for really.
 
#24 n 30 plus hood Exum favors Burks an unprotected future picks will git us Westbrook but y'all got to be patient till the trade deadlines.
 
I also have had a feeling the Jazz will be doing something to make the team elite. I'll give them until after the first week of July for something to happen though. Sure glad I have the first 5 days of free agency off from work, lol.

Yes and no. First off, you should put away the Phil Collins because his 'I can feel it' is just creepy. It's like a promise from Scott Layden dressed up in drag and saying that he will be the 'best you have ever had'. Eerily discomforting. Try out this for size:

Yes, stuff is going to happen. Thy **** shalt hitteth thine faneth sooneth. But we are a such a nice combo of short and long play right now that there is not need to feel rushed. Keeping Hayward is huge. But if he leaves, just look at the direction of the team. We are in good hands. Do we have a 2 year window where we either sink or swim? Nope. This team is building on a solid foundation of leadership, player development, asset management, and culture. Our players want to be here. Other players want to be here. We didn't hear those things even 2 years ago. So, it's not bet the farm days. We are adding. We will come out stronger by tomorrow. If Gordon stays, it will be because he sees that direction and because he isn't selling out for 'greener pastures'. I love the culture we have established. Contrast it with some of the dumpster fires going on and some of the ones we have had in our past and there is NO NEED TO RUSH! The Spurs reloaded for a decade again by drafting 1 player and adding Kawhi to the mix of culture. We are well on the way to having that core group and that culture.

Relax... enjoy the ride. But we aren't in a sprint. We are in a decade long marathon that will see us compete for a long time to come.

Lyrically very nice post.

But I don't fear the possibilities lying in front of us. Losing Hayward isn't the end of the world. It will open up different roads for the Jazz if building around him was the problem more than the solution to contend for real in the GSW-CLE era.

Now I'm not saying anything negative about Hayward and even if I wanted to I couldn't since he is way too perfect of a franchise player in every aspect.

I'm only saying that you never know about the possibilities that lies ahead of you until you leave the facts at home and hit the road.

I think this is also Hayward's mentality right now if he is seriously thinking about the Celtics.

This team is trash without Hayward. He constantly takes their best defender and plenty of help D away from the offense. Without him doing that, the other lesser offensive threats would receive smothering defense much more consistently.

Hayward may not be a top 5 player but he's still a pretty damn good player and would be hard to replace outside the draft.
