1. We won't be in the same salary crunch in 3 years as we were this past offseason. If Al warrants a max deal it will be much easier to do so.
2. Nobody knows what's going to happen with max contracts. It's very possible they'll be much smaller by the time Al is a FA.
Why is this discussion still going? Boozer is the best player to ever live. Yet, the Jazz never went anywhere with him on the team, and it was time to move on to a lesser player and maybe they'll magically do better (as the record clearly shows). Can we move on already?

You realize we are in the same situation with Al? He will come off his contract at 28 looking for a 5 year close to max deal like Boozer got.
And the tax will drop as well. Salary drop is irrelevant.....we will cut big Al loose so fast....your head will spin! We ain't maxin out a guy who although talented in some respects, can't figure out how to run a simple pick and roll with a guy who makes it easier than taste testing pies in a pie factory! Oh, I forgot! When Al's contract is up....the long NBA strike will be over....and these guys will be making less than half what they are getting paid now!!!
