Carrick Felix Injured from Practice

Don't discount that a guaranteed guy or two or three could be involved in a trade before the season starts.

Perhaps, but I don't think a trade happens until at least the deadline.
I think the Jazz want to see what they have with their 8-man rotation (Kanter, Favors, Gobert at the 4/5, Hayward, Hood and Burks at the wings and Burke and Exum), supported by a valuable backup in Booker and floor spacer in Novak. The rest really have no trade value other than throw-ins to make deals work.

IMO, it's too soon to make a major move, such as trading Burke and giving the reins to Exum or trading Burks and having Hayward and Hood be the starters. Or even putting Kanter or Favors on the trading block and asking Gobert to play 30+ mins.

I think the Jazz will go with 15 players at least until the end of the year when non-guaranteed deals become guaranteed. Murry and Motum are the most likely to claim the last 2 spots, although Snyder's emphasis on tough "D" could give Dahntay a shot. Cooley has an outside chance. Of the guaranteed players, Clark is likely the one on the bubble. I don't see much of a role for Evans, but he's such a popular player, I just don't see him getting released.

Guys I could see traded include Evans, Clark, Felix or Murry. Not rotation guys.

I saw in the Trib today that Evans contract is up after this year so he and one of the other guys mentioned could be used to match salaries for a player.

Yes, the only guys with guaranteed money next season are Hayward, Favors, Exum, Novak, and Hood for about $36 million. That's about 60% of what our guaranteed contracts for this season are (about $57 million, which is the minimum salary this year). Basically, Jazz can't really take any more money into next season so trading contracts like Evans doesn't make sense to me.

So sending a guy to the D-League still counts towards the 15 player maximum if they are guaranteed contract and you're looking to retain his rights. The non-guaranteed just get cut and DLeague teams decide what to do with them and any team can sign him at any point.

The Jazz have 13 guys with guaranteed contracts: Hayward, Favors, Kanter, Booker, Exum, Novak, Burks, Burke, Evans, Hood, Gobert, Clark, and Felix.

Outside of those guaranteed there is 2 spots for guys to make the roster between Dahntay Jones, Toure Murry, Kevin Murphy, Dee Bost, Jack Cooley, and Brock Motum
I hope motum gets one of those two spots

Felix was the end-of-bench guy I was most excited to see play. He seems like a good role player in Quin's system. High motor defender that can check 1 through 3. Good spot-up shooter. Pace, pass, defend. Hopefully he heels quickly and can learn a lot by watching.
