He sure came across as one when he played 44 minutes against Dallas in our 2OT win, putting up 15 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds @ 50% from the field. Was probably one of our biggest games of this season, with exception to the Phoenix game. Im not sure what more you could ask from an end-of-the-bench guy.
Not to mention the fact that he almost single-handedly kept us in certain games in the playoffs for periods of time. The guy doesn't have any great weaknesses, and is by no means a liability when he's out on the floor. He hits open shots, hustles, rebounds, and plays team-ball. Yeah, Id love Brandon Rush, but Carroll is more than good enough for now.
Huh? we're talking about Demarre Carroll, not Josh Howard (or CJ Miles).I don't want to say I'm excited by this because I'm not and that would be overstating things, especially since I'm sure it's just a minor "injury," but I do like this for lack of a better word. I'm more in the camp that we need to play Hayward, Williams, and Burks about 30 minutes each, wins and losses, be damned. This injury, if it lingers or gets worse could do that. Otherwise, Burks may just be relegated to 18-22 minutes, decent time, but not enough for him to truly get the time I feel needs to develop his craft.
Yes, he shouldn't have gone that far, but if he really turned it hard, I think he knows he's not going to be able to play on it by Saturday a.m.I wonder if KOC and the coaches liked him determining he was done with summer league before consulting the team's trainers or doctors?

this is the most hilarious part. kept us in playoff games?? we lost by an average of 16.0 points per contest, so i'm sure what games he was keeping us in. and he has plenty of weaknesses, starting with the fact that he's barely an NBA player.
well you're pointing to one game. i'm looking at the fact that he shot 37.4% last year (and is below 40% for his career), averaged fewer than 1 assist per game with 2.5 rebounds, and posted a PER that is a hair better than raja bell's. his 4.8 ppg were a career high, and his per-36 numbers indicate that he'll never average double figures, even if he finds a team to make him a regular starter.
the guy is a hustle-and-energy guy. there's nothing wrong with that, but let's not get confused into thinking he's lamar odom.

this is the matt harpring syndrome: we see a guy take a charge or come up with a backcourt steal and we confuse him for a game changer because he "plays hard." you could replace carroll with a hard-working d-league guy and barely notice the difference.
I would bet you are vastly overestimating the seriousness of this injury. By the time the season starts it will be a distant memory and it will never have any impact at all upon rotations.I don't want to say I'm excited by this because I'm not and that would be overstating things, especially since I'm sure it's just a minor "injury," but I do like this for lack of a better word. Locke roasted Carroll in his pod cast. He also said he has a weird contract and the Jazz haven't yet picked up his option. He was touting old Jazz players like Ronnie Brewer or Korver being much better than Carroll.
The jazz have until the 13th to waive him or else his contract becomes guaranteed for next season.
