Cavs offer Gordo MAX deal (maybe)

Couldn't that be a bit of an exaggeration on your part? I mean, I don't know how your dreams work, but I don't usually wake up sweating because an athlete was paid more than I thought he should be. Seriously, listen to Locke's podcast from this morning. Even if the Jazz matched a max offer, there's very little chance it negatively affects the team. A max he signs this year becomes a more reasonable contract as the cap increases. Why should we care if the Millers spend more as long as it doesn't hurt the team.

The funny part is that I already had listened to locke's podcast and that is what started the very bizarre "pay Hayward the max day." He actually said that parsons and Ariza were not anywhere near as good as Hayward. That simply is not true. Its like bizarro world. Hayward and Harden are the same and deserve the max, but Parsons and Ariza suck and don't deserve 10 million. Wierd stuff going on today.

Woj tweeted a bit ago that the Cavs haven't pulled the trigger on an offer because they're worried Utah will match... or something like that.

Edit: my bad hair... you already said this... disregard

That DL earning his money

Yes & No.

If he scares everyone off, low balls Hayward, pisses him off. Nothing good happens there if he truly believes he is part of the future.

He needs to follow thru with at least 13/yr or Max.

If not, if I am Hayward I accept the 1 yr qualifying offer he has and become an unrestricted FA next summer.

Chess game.

Lol, Hayward isn't taking a 1 year offer. Only way he takes a max offer is if another team offers it to him.

Can someone explain to me why the Jazz potentially matching their offer would scare the Cavs off? What's the downside to making the offer regardless?

Their money is tied up for 3 days, potentially losing out on the other free agents.

I think it ties up their money or something for a period. Perhaps both in reality and psychologically - can't really make an offer to a backup plan because the Jazz could say no...

Anyone else know?
