Chances of last place building a Dynasty?

Are the same guy that recently said the Jazz would make the playoffs this year, and have a hard time believing we make the playoffs next year based on what I have seen so far this year.

the nuggets went from 17 wins (2002) to 43 wins (2003) after drafting carmelo. (+26 wins)
the rockets went from 28 wins (2001) to 43 wins (2002) after drafting yao. (+15 wins)

Not my first time watching the NBA, but maybe your question was not an honest one. Some of those rosters I am familiar with. Some I need to look up (but I am sure you did not know those exact stats off the top of your head either).

Denver Nuggets case: +Melo, +Dre Miller +Voshon Lenard +Marcus Camby playing 42 more games.
Houston Rockets case: Francis played 24 more games in 2002 vs 2001.
Miami Heat case: +Eddie Jones playing 34 more games +Wade +Odom
San Antonio Spurs case: This one is more memorable. The Twin Towers. The Admiral went down early in the season and played 6 games. Duncan got drafted the next year.
Jazz: Would you say Deron was a big part of that bounce? He started 47 games and avg 10 points and 4 assists.

I am sure the list goes on and on and we will see it was never about adding one rookie. Michael Jordan who avg 28ppg as a rookie only got an +11 bounce for the Bulls. They made the playoffs and lost in the first round. No matter who we draft next year, if we are the worst team this year there will still be a lot of work to be done in order to be contenders again. We will need to lure good free agents as well.

the point is clear however, that arguably more so than in any other professional sport, one guy can make a tremendous difference. we are all banking on that guy to be from the draft. if we get a franchise player, i sincerely expect a +15-20 win increase next year.

We have the pieces to be big players in both the draft and free agency, with trades and cap space. We could see a completely different roster next season and there is no reason we couldn't pull a Celtics-type move, bring in some strong talent on the cusp, and ride them and a strong draft to a (or multiple) title(s).
