I really don't think the shooter was Republican, but he definitely had right wing views (and clearly a right wing upbringing)that seemingly got muddied by 4chan-esque message boards that radicalized him (just based off the memes he put on his bullets). Most shooters don't fit neatly into a single box of right or left.

back peddle back peddle back peddle- ya he came from a loving republican family and still was radicalized. That makes it worse you retard. He obviously believes Kirk was a fascist nazi because of right wing propaganda. It's horrible what happened to this kid.

I'm not back peddling on anything. I'm just laughing in your and PJFs face at how horny you were to create a left vs right war under the false belief the shooter was a left wing trans activist. You are so incredibly stupid and probably one of the types of people who helps create these lunatics with your incessant ramblings on the Internet. If right wing spaces are dominated by people of your IQ level it probably contributes to making your fellow right wingers go insane
 
Here are a series of articles about the shooter and comments from Cox. I think Cox is 100% right that social media is a cancer on society and we are not wired to consume hatred and violence 24/7. I sincerely believe if social media didn't exist we'd be in a much better space as a society and as individuals.

Heres what I've said and its mostly regarding gun control not the murder of Kirk

Murder is already illegal genius. It somehow didn’t stop the murderer! Hateful rhetoric and justification is the issue here. Mental health is also a significant issue. Too many sick and deranged hateful mentally ill folks that take too many medications and don’t have access mental healthcare or counseling.

I'm really curious to find out if the two people arrested and released prior had any affiliation/coordination with the shooter or if they were just random weirdos who wanted to be arrested.

The huge issue, imo, is the monetization of social media and how that has led to rise of algorithms

He was a registered voter but not as a Republican or Democrat.

Now the real work for maga begins. Have to transform Thomas Robinson, a white male from a conservative Christian family that grew up in trump country and was not registered as a Democrat, into a Mexican transgender democrat from California who is a Marxist, communist, satanic, socialist, deep state pedophile.

I've explained my thoughts on this before, but in a nutshell, I believe we evolved brains to deal with continual existential crises. The flight for food, water, mates, land, resources, tribalism, all this is what our brains evolved to process and resolve. But in the modern would we largely don't have any of these crises anymore. True poverty in America and food scarcity are at near record lows. Everyone has a 60" tv, streaming constant entertainment, cell phones, multiple cars, etc. etc. There are no existential crises for our brains to work out anymore. I read one article by a psychologist who speculated something like this explains why we seek out change so frequently. Our brains need that stimulus of the hunt, the chase, the struggle. Without the struggle, we feel we have no meaning and we get antsy. So we fabricate existential crises and turn any uncomfortable situation into something to fight against.

In short we are victims of our own prosperity.

It explains why people hate gays and trans, because they are different and different means an existential threat to our neanderthal brains. It explains why we so quickly write off atrocities committed against "the other" as we are wired to be tribal, and if they aren't in our tribe they are an existential threat. Religion, national politics, even seemingly innocuous things like sports fandom and fanaticism about your favorite band are explained by the need to belong to a tribe which is rooted in our brains need to solve existential problems. And what we saw in places like Nazi Germany, Rwanda, among many others, and now here in our own country and under our very noses, are the ultimate result of where we as a species will allow our inborn driven need to find and solve existential problems will take us, and what those psychopaths with the ability to harness those needs in us can get us to do, accept, or even willingly participate in. We lost our last great existential crisis to help keep us all occupied when the cold war ended, so the cries of "stop the commies" no longer had "commies" so many filled that void with "gays", "trans", "leftists", "socialists", "right-wingers", as we desperately sought a tribe we felt scratched that itch.

I'm drastically oversimplifying this, but I think people will get the gist.

We need something to rail against and without a national "enemy" like "the commies" for pretty much all of us to rally against, we have split ourselves into tribes internally, right-wingers and leftist socialists, and by god we will cram everyone into one of those buckets whether they fit or not. Wait, you don't love Trump? You are a leftist lunatic socialist and you will destroy our country! Wait you don't hate Trump? You are a radical right-wing gun-nut trans-phobe and you will destroy our country! No one can see that these aren't really existential threats, because they scratch our itch to solve problems, fight, and belong to a tribe. Until it escalated to the point where, under the right leader, one of them is rapidly becoming a true existential threat, following blueprints laid out long ago by what they view as previously successful ideologues in taking control of their country. So we can do the same. Create the other. Ramp up hateful rhetoric. Show force, both to placate the side that wants force and to frighten the other side into submission. And other steps in progress and still to come. But it's all built on our innate need to find and solve existential problems, and the fact that we live in a time of heightened prosperity largely without any existential threats.

So by god, we'll make one up! And for this, Trump is the new savior, because he saved us from our lack of tribe, belonging, and fight. He gave us a new common enemy, and what do you know, they have lived with us all this time, it's our own neighbors, those leftist lunatic socialists right in our own neighborhood! In our own family! I knew it all along! Praise trump, he saved us from our boredom. Now we can all hate the Mexicans and socialists and eradicate them from our country because they are destroying America! Praise be! Under his eye! And Gilead is born!
