What's new

Chess Match Thread

So somehow I lost my Chess Titans and other games on my computer. Great, now I'll have to just make better use of my time. And wifey won't be doing so much Hearts and Solitaire. I can't believe I didn't even notice this since the computer was re-done last February.

OK, so I have the link to the chess pic, and we can just do that when we need to.

So, just trying to work out the bugs with the system:

Is that more convenient? Does that create postcount and rep that's transferable to JF?

No, but it is quite the sizable community of players and a lot of grandmasters, haven't been there in awhile but I am absolutely positive it is more convenient then however the heck you are doing games, lol. You can play live with a clock and also games that takes several days, you can set the days to make a move to like a day or two.

Well, I am a workaholic, a binge worker when I get going. The past day has been the first day I've sat down in months. And I'll have to get up tomorrow and start again. But as things are, I must be here about every other day or every third day whatever else I do. And when I'm here, I'll sit down once in every few hours to take a break.

I think I should only play one game at a time, even if it's a slow mover. The way I do things, I like to think it over as I go along.

AHA!! You fell into my cleverly laid trap!!

I hope you're having fun with these traps.

I guess you mean you can pin my knight with your bishop or something. I think I've seen this before. You just like to do diagonal pawn games, don't you.

So I went back looking for where you've done this before, and found instead your advice to Jonah:

When in doubt develop your pieces to the best squares in the strongest order: minimal pawn moves, knights before bishops, castle kingside early, etc.

Usually, when I see this early development I anticipate an early Queen deployment along the diagonal opened up here, sometimes the white diagonal bishop is deployed to pin a knight, but you need to have some kind of target for taking something with my pinned "defender" out of action. Computers use this sometimes, and are hard to beat back. It's one of the starts I don't really like. . . .

.
So far, you have two pieces moved into the eight strongest positions on the board, to my one. I am going to violate your advice even further.
