We have a competitive World Championship! Anand is giving Carlsen a real battle. The match is now tied 2.5 to 2.5. Today's fifth game was drawn with Anand again having the winning chances. Tomorrow begins a critical mid-point of the match. Anand appears to be in better form but he now faces his most difficult portion of the match.
The match is twelve games. By chance of the draw Anand was white in the first game and then alternates colors each game until the sixth and seventh when he must play black both games. I think the match is scheduled in this way to ameliorate the advantage of being white in the first game, however, Carlsen now has a real chance to take control with two games in a row as white.
Tomorrow's game starts at 3 PM Moscow time or 5 AM MST. It's not exactly Breakfast at Wimbledon, but GM Peter Svidler, a top ten player, does live stream commentary and analysis for NDTV Sports.
