I thought you'd probably take the trade and then just keep up the pawn assault.

Edit(Sunday night 9:30 PM MST)

So down two pawns, it looks to me like even a forced trade scenario leaves me unable to progress my pawns, and Enes' victory is inevitable. If Enes wants to play it out, I will see what I can do, but otherwise, this game just goes down in the books in Enes' favor.

I just check in on game 7 of the WCC. Carlsen with a rook, knigh and 2 connected queenside pawns versus Anand with rook and four queenside pawns (connected, but doubled). Carlsen has an advantage, but I don't think it was enough for the win when I saw it.

Interesting. Against some opponents I could "go extremely mobile" and overcome a deficit like that, but I think Enes is solid. I want him to be free to play some of you other folks if he's bored with my long long tedious and nit-picking game. . . .

I'll try to just play the games more quickly.

Qxa7

Babe, if you play Qxa7 then I'm going to mate you. That would suck after playing really well thus far.

hmmm. . . . let's see what I'm not seeing. . . ..

If you move your queen to d2 it is mate the next move when I back my king away and you take my rook with your queen. What I did look at was a d1 move. If I was using the board I'm used to I'd see a few of these things. . . .

In my family, it's touch/move and no second chances, so you win. But I'm still interested in this game if you want to pursue it. Of course, I can easily prevent this particular demise if I resist the urge to attack just enough to cover my arse.

I could intercept your attack with an invited Q trade, but the better move is Bd3

The way I score position and power, I have a thin lead because the bishop is sometimes more useful than a knight, and you have a doubled pawn in one column. At this stage in the game, it's all about mobility and development of pawn positions. In the pawn position consideration, I have advanced mine which in the end game counts very seriously as an advantage, which I think some cheap computer program overlook. That is why I can beat my "computer" at the game.

uhhhhmmmm. . . .. and well, of course I've got to remember to take care of my king. lol.

I am sorry to see Log have to take time for real life. I am sure I have as much on my plate, unless perhaps it's a medical emergency or well, something else very serious. I hope he's OK, and I hope he can come back sometime.

I have sometimes made my move when I pulled off the road to do a potty break, or to make a phone call, with only a minute's look at the board. With me, it's a quest to do my best, but except for a few times in the game with Enes I have not done a lengthy study of the possibilities, just flying by my habits when I used to play quick games for the fun of it. I have had to neglect stacking my hay to do the business end of selling, but I am fortunate to be able to do so. There has been a huge crisis in my wife's family in the past few weeks which has sobered us up a lot, and given my wife the motive to help me sell, and sell she has.

As for the hay, I had lots of water this year, and have enough grass on fields to feed my cows through the spring anyway, and they are on the BLM until then, and it's been dry so little damage to the bales. . . but yes, I will be stacking hay after thanksgiving, digging it out of the snow if I have to. It was a struggle with my old equipment to get it cut and baled, and good it was dry in October so I could still do it.

It makes a positive difference to me to have something like these games going on, just for a little break from other pressures. At least that's the way my constitution lines it up.

We'll just continue the game with the bishop move instead. It is a waste of a good match if we end it over an uncharacteristic blunder. I'll make my move tomorrow morning.
