I’m sort of on board with Cy here. Trade both for MAJOR assets. I miss the tank days.

Then I don’t have unrealistic expectations and letdowns. Seriously we pretty much know both of their ceilings and they’re not THAT high. I’d rather go on a date with a 7 and know she wants to **** my brains out right now than have hopes with a 9.5 only to go home with blue balls.

If we trade two current all stars including the best young player in the history of our franchise, might as well just move the team. Why would any young player want to come here with that lack of commitment? At least with Rudy we could try to extend him and trade him if his number is too high. Trading both would alienate 99% of fans.

You can start by choosing him if this isn’t fixable between the two and showing you back him. I don’t know yet honestly. I don’t know. Like none of us are flawless man. He’s allowed to have a bad moment. He’s had 3 years of great ones. Also. Regardless. You realize his contract will extend him through 5 seasons, not end until 2026. He will be turning 30 that year. He will have played 9 seasons here by then. 6 more years of Donovan and most of his prime, is something you take no questions ask and worry about 2025 or 2026 when it gets here and hope he’s Dame. He’ll be 30 then and a grown man probably with a family. If the reason you’re choosing Rudy is because you’re afraid of losing Donovan in 6 years that’s a very bad reason. Donovan is probably the 3rd most valuable player the franchise has ever had. I don’t think it’s a guarantee he’s gone, I don’t think it’s a guarantee he stays either obviously.

Listen, I think what we’re all a little worried about is yes a Hayward similar situation. I think we’d all actually like to see the dude be who he seems to be, have his number retired, get a statue, and be worshipped here forever, and it would be nice to get a title or at least have a realistic shot at one during that journey. We want Donovan to be Dame. I would like that with Rudy too, but I’m not with giving Rudy the super-max at all. If he two of them Donovan is the more valuable guy to the franchise and the city quite honestly.

Saying Donovan’s fake is probably an over-reaction to this. He’s having a personal relationship issue with a co-worker. We’ve all been upset with someone before only we didn’t have to have it near this publicly hashed out. He should have handled this better no doubt. But here’s what’s real. A month ago Donovan was at high school basketball games girls and boys and talked to a few of the players as well. Like it’s a moment they’ll have their entire lives. He just helped financially back feeding the entire Granite School Districts kids while they can’t go to school. He drove to Logan a year ago to go to an Aggie football game. Some of it’s PR, but a lot of it is a really positive difference. Like his commitment will have to be very very deep to keep him here. A commitment very very few players have. We’ll see. I’ll take Donovan in our community 6 more years and watching him play basketball through the age 23-30 without any hesitation. Hopefully he’ll stay beyond that but yeah it’s gonna be hard to keep him and it’s going to take a conscious commitment from him like Dame has with Portland that never lets the idea of leaving creep into his mind like Dame for him to stay.

I appreciate you taking the time to write this, but I don't think you know that I'm basing my opinion on Donovan not on the covid situation but prior. you can try to convince me but I still question his character and sincerity. He is 23 but you could still do your deeds for recognition and not for genuinely trying to help. I think Donovan does these things to help a bit but more so to boost his brand and image. You have your opinion which I respect and appreciate but this is mine, which I hope you do the same with ...

Fetch me. As funny as that is, you have to look at a number of other players in the league like Dame, Steph, and Butler to name a few. Those guys continued to grow from their first few years into the beasts they are today. I feel like it is pre-mature to decide what Donovan's ceiling is. He’s improved his game 3 years in a row now, and I’m no basketball pro but I’d love to see what he could do being switched to the point full time with a complimentary 2 guard.

Also, I highly doubt there is a lasting beef between Donovan and Gobert over the Covid thing. If that were the reason they fell out then we’re dealing with a couple pouty grade schoolers for cornerstones. If anything, it they didn’t want to be together they’d just use the covid thing as the excuse but I think it’s nothing to worry about.

Curry is an anomaly because of his beyond elite shooting. I’d like to see another ELITE wing in the last 20 years who can’t finish at the rim and shoots just five free throw attempts per game.

Probably a hot take and I will get flamed for it but imo if every player in the NBA is playing their absolute best then I think curry is the best player in the NBA.

I'm curious what your reasoning is behind that.

I would say it's Durant or Giannis. Especially if you think of both sides of the court. When those two are playing their best they are can't be guarded by anyone and draw a ton of attention at they spot on the court. They also can be huge factors on defense where Steph is a liability. Giannis in particular can have a Rudy level factor on defense, maybe more since he is way more athletic.

Don is an alpha-dog. That's a rare skill. Rudy has a lot good qualities too. Dang it why do we have to blow things up right before we got good

we aren't good enough that's why, unfortunately these two don't gel on and off the court in more ways than 1.
