Well, he was 93, so it wasn't like it wasn't about to happen soon, but I'm still sad. The guy was such a powerful screen presence, and himself such a character. I believe he still holds the record for most film appearances; he was a big fantasy geek and re-read Lord of the Rings every year (even knew some elvish); he released symphonic metal albums in his late 80's and early 90's. He seemed like a quirky and wonderful human being. And that voice...

There was no one like him, and I'll miss him.

This was sudden and it is probably why I feel so sad. I have been listening to his interviews, reads, roles since I learned he died. He seemed so happy when he shared his stories so I think we can at least be happy that he lived such a full life.
