Well, he was 93, so it wasn't like it wasn't about to happen soon, but I'm still sad. The guy was such a powerful screen presence, and himself such a character. I believe he still holds the record for most film appearances; he was a big fantasy geek and re-read Lord of the Rings every year (even knew some elvish); he released symphonic metal albums in his late 80's and early 90's.
