I LOVED the draft pick that the Jazz had last year drafting Trey, I really did. Really though, is Dante or Trey the PG of the future for the Jazz? I think you guys have CJ Miles eyes for Trey. Trey is totally flaky, I mean, when had he had 2 good games back to back since... when? Up until yesterday this board (for the most part) was negative against Trey, for good reason. I mean we have a good young pg in Dante, who may not be as good right now, but given the same minutes as trey would have similar or even better stats than him.

He hits one great shot, one amazing shot, and has a good game. Not a great game, but a good game for a starting PG in this league and you guys want to give him the reigns to the team. I have been patrolling, not trolling this board since probably... well a few years before the entire board got erased and everyone had to start anew and I see a trend.

Trey Burke = CJ Miles

Yup. I said it.

CJ Miles would be turrible for 2-4 games in a row then have a 20+ point night and this board would erupt by saying "ohmergerd Miles for MVP".

The trend continues... Trey has had an abysmal start to the season despite coming into camp in shape etc and has been outplayed for the most part by Dante. So why since he had 1 good game you guys wanna throw away that past ala CJ Miles and say he is the future?

I don't get it.

you are an idiot if trey is tuuuribble 2-4 games and 1 good games.

trey is struggling at shooting the ball. he is doing relatively well for everything else. you are talking about a 2nd year player who is learning a new friggin offense. you call him cj miles if he struggles in 2016.

You don't remember CJ Miles too well then.

CJ was playing ahead of more than talented people at the time. CJ would have 1-4 games where he would get outplayed by the people that were behind him like, Hayward or Burkes then have one great game then this board would say how great CJ was. I'm just seeing a trend where people forget when a mediocre player has 1 good game out of 4 then wonders why the guy sucks the other 20-25% of the time.

every team needs a guy like trey who can hit clutch shots and doesn't turn the ball over. and it seems to me trey has gotten stronger, and worked on his D alot this summer. he has gotten better.

yes, shooting % worries me. alot of it are just flat out missing open jumpers which lead me to believe he isn't shooting with confidence. and his shots just look off. and many of his misses were him being aggressive and missing those tough layups. like the other night where he was 5-15. he needs to get better at finishing around the rim. and i know trey has floater, but he isn't using often.

trey, by no means is a finished product. he is mature beyond years, and he will be a integral part of this team. and let's say exum beats out trey and becomes a starter. then guess what? we have a capable backup.

every team needs 2 capable pgs. as long as trey doesn't cost us alot, he is a keeper.

I agree for the most part of what you say, obviously he is capable of hitting the clutch shot, he was like that at Michigan too. I also say yeah, he's really young for being a starter and he, well, imho isn't as beyond his years as you think he his. He is a great backup PG in this league, even for a contender. I'm just saying that without Exum behind him I would be happy with him being our "non-allstar" pg of the future, kind of like a Aaron Brooks type where he is really good, but may or may not make that team in his career.

I just don't see Trey wanting to be a backup. You're right, it's his 2nd year, don't be too hard on the guy. BUT my thing is, he has a 19 year old that is, for the most part, outplaying him. I mean, we had John Stockton backup Rickey Green for 2 years before he took over. I'm not saying Exum is Green, but he has shown signs that he could be much better than Trey. If you were the Jazz, what would you expect to happen if you benched Trey for Exum? I'm sure that Trey wouldn't like it much... and I think that is the Jazz's problem. They have 2 talented pgs right now, when do trade Burke? Do you wait until his value is down after being benched or do you trade him before then?

Trey isn't a top 10 PG in this league but he's the best we got and we have to roll with it.

When Dante shows that he can consistently impact the game instead of sitting on the perimeter, then he can start. Until then, Burke will do fine.

There might be 2 or 3 Burke fanboys on the board saying that. You really have no clue.

My goal for Burke currently is D. Fisher. I think he can AT LEAST do that. If we got a young D. Fisher for were we drafted him and knowing the quality of that draft, that would be a win. Even if Exum develops and becomes the next big thing, having a Fisher on the bench is a need. We are going to need some of the core to pan out as 6 to 8 million dollar guys, so I'm not going to cry if that is where Burke settles out. There is certainly no need to trade or bash him. His development path right now fits a needed role, even if he doesn't improve exponentially.

True, he is a Fisher type of player. I can totally see that with his development as of right now, and he totally has room to improve and probably will. That being said, I predict he will not be the starting PG at the end of the season.

Fisher was a reliable 3PT threat. Not sure if Trey can ever be that kind of shooter.

He just has to focus on catch and shoot 3's. I think he is still kind of stuck in wanting to play like he did in Michigan but he has to realize eventually he needs to reign in some of his attempts and pick his spots a bit better.

There is just no way Exum can start right now and have it be a net positive for anyone. He is getting enough minutes right now to help him develop. I don't think getting more is going to accelerate things that much.

Burke = Black Jesus, Burke = Chris Paul 2.0

Burke = future All-Star

Burke = future MIP

Even the Burke fanboys are fairly reasonable.

I'm a massive Burke fan, and I'm fine with the idea of Exum outplaying him and us trading Burke.

Is Exum ready to start right now? Lmfao. Not even close. Is last night as good as Burke will ever get? Lmfao, again.

People have zero ****ing patience. Unbelievable.

I agree completely: You don't get it. Hypergeneralization based on some excitement over a
nice game and nice win. Go pee on someone else's parade.

Perfection. Trey upside is an average starting nba pg, downside is an average backup pg. Been saying this since he was drafted. I think his shooting will dramatically improve, based on solid mechanics and improvements in selection. I see him improving to 45% overall, 35% on 3s by year 4.

tbh I'm impressed with how Trey has handled the rough start. No attitude, just tries his best out there, and he's getting better, slowly. The jury is definitely out.

Like others have said I think he'll make a great back up, at least. I think some worry that Trey doesn't want to be a back up. I'm sure he doesn't, and thats all up to him. If he can get his usage down to last nights numbers (7-9 shots) he'll be exactly what we need, for now.
