I don't think beating down top ten teams on the road by 40 points per game is going to be a week in week out thing.
That game was a bit of an anomaly. Usu was tied with the utes at the half. Usu looks like total **** this year.
The Michigan game could have gone either way.
Fresno is fresno.

Utes have to come to play each week and will be in many more battles before the year is over and might lose one of them or even a couple.

Of course Utah is going to lose a game this year. I think only one PAC-12 team EVER has made it through the season undefeated. It's called big boy football. This isn't the MWC.

Who said beating top ten teams on the road by 40 was going to happen every week? The Michigan could NOT have gone either way. If you believe that, you didn't watch it. Utah controlled that game from start to finish, and did it showing nothing.

Of course Utah has to show up every week or they will lose. No one has said otherwise. The difference is that IF Utah shows up week in week out, there isn't a game that they shouldn't win. Will they win them all? Of course not.

Doesn't mean Utah isn't great.

This is not relevant to what I'm saying.

I'm saying that the utes are a good team in a good conference that have had one road test so far.
When they play arizona state, Arizona, cal, and usc they could lose any of those games.

As for your last post about the Michigan game.
Yes if utes don't have the penalties and there isn't a garbage time td then the game isn't close. But it goes both ways. If the Michigan qb didn't miss wide open receivers that got behind the defense and the utes don't score a defensive td then they could have lost that game.

I watched the Michigan game at my wife's company party that was full of ute fans..... They were all nervous the whole time. It was not a dominant performance. At least not from the perspective of the utes at that party, or from my perspective.
It was a good close game that the utes won. And they were the better team. It was not a 40 point road blowout against a top ten team though. (I don't blame you for you over confidence btw.... It's understandable after that Oregon game.)

The real question is how many games do we expect Oregon to drop? How impressive was the win truly? Do we think Oregon is going to come back and have a dominant year sans Utah loss?

Because right now the Ducks are just a team with 0 quality wins.

In the Oregon game? Nobody has.
In the other games? Plenty of teams have looked better.

No one was talking about utah being this dominant, #1 team in the country before the Oregon game.

We did have a similar beat down vs Michigan. We scored more points vs them than the rest of their opponents combined. Michigan scored a TD in garbage time, and if not for two PF calls on third downs, they might not have scored 10 points. We dominated them, and they are ranked now.

As far as Fresno and Utah State, look no further than our QB. And yet we still controlled both games, showed nothing (see Oregon) and walked away with easy wins.

Again, when Whitt calls us a Giant, equals with a team like Oregon, and then says after two games vs Oregon (who almost beat then #2 team in the country on the road) and Michigan (a ranked team) that he expected those wins....

You can be pessimistic if you want. You are just robbing yourself of a special season.

I think the problem is, too many Utah fans have given too many BYU fans crap for being a "zoob" and so now that their team is good, they don't want to look like a "zoob". Sucks to be you if that's that case. This team is great. What they are doing is great.

Finally, show me a team that has looked better than Utah so far this year. What Utah did last weekend wasn't a moment. It was something that had only been done once before. Alabama, Ohio St, Michigan, USC, Texas...they've never done what Utah did last weekend.

Show me one team that has looked better than Utah, and I'll temper my enthusiasm.

I'm never asked you to temper your enthusiasm. I think it's great you're so pumped. I stated my opinion, and you engaged me, so I have explained myself. I don't expect you to agree. But I do expect you to understand that just because I approach it differently than you doesn't mean either of us are wrong. I'm not sure how I'm missing out on anything. I've been this way for as long as I can remember, and I experienced just as much euphoria in '04 and '08 as anyone else. I cheer just as loud, and I'm there at every home game. I'm not missing anything.

Also, I never asserted that the win at Oregon was merely a "moment". Time will tell how accurate a barometer that game was. I stated that I've seen those moments happen, and that they don't always represent the mean. That's all.

I don't think they jump back up and dominate, but looking at their schedule, I'd say 8-9 wins is completely feasible.

They really need to get a grip on their QB situation, tho. As bad as their defense is, QB play is the keystone of their success/failure.

Next two games for them: @Colorado and Wazzu.

If they can't get the ship righted against those two, then they might be in trouble.

They should still win @UW, @ASU, and OSU.

Cal is a tough call. They're like Oregon Jr.

USC and @Stanford will be tough games. But those both come late in the schedule, so we should have a pretty good idea how competitive they'll be by then.

Personally, I hope they win out. It'd do the Utes a huge favor.

lol. After three games I was telling you that Wilson was the most efficient passer in the country...because he was. He was ranked #1 in pass efficiency. So, last year, when Wilson was ranked #1 in pass efficiency, he was the most efficient passer in the country. I never said he was the best QB in the country. I said he was the most efficient...because he was.

Guess what? According to ESPN's QBR, Wilson is the best QB in the country. So, I'll tell you the same thing I told you last year: Right now, no QB is helping his team more than Travis Wilson. Pretty cool stuff. Guess me and ESPN are the irrational bunch. Toss SI into that as well.

So, when SI puts Utah at #1 right now, which they have, are they not rational?

Who else in the country has two wins over CURRENT top 25 teams? Who else did that by beating one of those teams on the road by the largest margin ever?

So, Utah being great so far, playing great so far, and having the best resume in college football so far...makes me irrational?

Since you are the bastion of rationality right now, show me a top 10 team right now that does not have a fan base dreaming of the playoffs. Show me a fan base where they have TWO wins over TOP 25 teams that aren't dreaming of big things for their team.

Why is any of that irrational? In fact, rational thinking would lead you to believe that Utah is on pace to have a great season. An irrational person would look at Utah's season and project mediocrity.

But, whatevs....

Dak Prescott is 10x the QB Wilson is. Sorry, it's true. No way Utah relies more on Wilson than State does Prescott. It's not even close.
