Disappointing loss for USU; I was really hoping they could hold on. And an ugly win for BYU. They've got a chance next week against a very young Texas team, but they'll have to play a LOT better offensively.

That guy looked better than Borrel. Dude was playing some intelligent QB in that game. Guy walks into Auburn as a true Freshman like it's no big deal? Keeper. Utah State should have some good years ahead, including this one.
I'm a USU fan and I'm trying to see the silver lining in what happened yesterday. I'm not a big fan of the whole moral victories thing, but Keeton did look awesome for an 18 year kid.
That is what I'm looking forward to. Also I think we have so much more depth on the roster than ever before. We used to be able to hang with teams for a half but then we'd run out
of gas and lose it in the second half. Anyway, thanks for the props and here's hoping for a great season.
I think a lot of it was Auburn not taking the game seriously. They thought USU, lol, cupcake opener. They will get their asses handed to them next week when Mississippi State plays them though.

They're gonna get their asses handed to them in most of their games. Auburn sucks this year and their schedule is brutal. They will be lucky to win 6 games.
True, they are easily the 2nd worst SEC West team, right next to Ole Miss.

Heartbreaker for Utah State, but I still think they contend in the WAC and go to a bowl this year.
Would like to be more critical of BYU, but I remember 2008 when Utah started off the season with an ugly road win against a pretty bad Michigan team and ended the season trouncing Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. With that being said, I'll stand by my opinion that every fall our local media and Bronco Mendenhall ramp up the rhetoric machine and get way ahead of themselves. This fall, it was all about Heaps, Doman, how this BYU offense is lethal and how this is probably the best BYU team Bronco has had since arriving in Provo. If that's the case, they're going to need to be able to score more than 1 offensive TD against what will prove to be a pretty bad SEC team IMO. BYU always seems to start a little slow under Bronco and finish extremely strong. That being said, I'm glad Utah will be facing them in week 3 as opposed to week 12.

Even though Ole Miss is pretty bad, they still get pretty good recruiting classes. They have a lot of talent on the team.

Recruiting class rankings are usually subjective and don't mean much unless you've got a program in place that can actually properly utilize those recruits. Houston Nutt has that program all screwed up and coached a horrible game yesterday. I have a feeling he'll be out of a job after 11 more games (or sooner). Plus, we're talking about a BYU squad who has a blue-chip QB recruit at the helm and they could only produce 1 offensive TD. I don't think Utah or BYU had anything close to what you could consider good showings in week 1. It will be interesting to see where they're both at heading into rivalry week after games @ USC and Texas.
Completely agreed. Recruits are usually ranked off their athletic ability, just saying that Ole Miss has some talented,physically impressive players. Houston Nutt and the whole organization blows whale slong.
