I'm bumping this thread to comment on some of my observations from the Arizona State/Utah game a few days ago. I actually had a chance to watch a good chunk of the game, and it was a good one.
1) The Utes play tough/hard defense. I don't know if it's good defense. What I mean by that is that I'm not sure we can slow down prolific offenses or offensive players, however, we switch hard and we play defense like we want too. It was refreshing to watch a basketball team play team D (even though we are good for a handful of mental lapses a game).
2) Offensively, We need a lot of work. I felt like our offense was aimless most of the time. We controlled the tempo of the game by passing the ball on the wings until there was about 7-10 seconds on the shot clock, and then we would take at best a contested leaner. The Utes never seemed to get easy baskets... extremely frustrating.
3) Loveridge plays offense like Paul Pierce. I'm okay with that. He does get discouraged and hesitant when his shot is not dropping.
4) I wish we could shoot the three like BYU.
