I guess maybe it's time to close the thread because the usual morons have come in here and taken their usual deuces.

Sure….I think you can look at Ish->Collier->Wall as a Pokémon evolution lol. I also think he functionally works similar to what WB is right now. These players really need the team/lineup built around them in a specific way, but the flip side of that is that they can really elevate a team if the situation is right. Collier will never have that athleticism that Wall/WB had that allowed them to be stars….but maybe he can be a better shooter. His shot looks really awful so I’m not going to be too optimistic, but if he can build on his drive/kick foundation I think he can be a role player for some time.

Being a positive defender will also go a long way. Hard to evaluate any individual in this dumpster fire defense, but I think he has the mentality and attributes to be a good defender.

He's actively getting downhill and setting players up through his ability to make things happen. He's got just enough rim pressure threat to keep defenses honest to open up those passes.

I'd like to see his FTr get higher (he was great in college), but that can come with time. Very few players get to dominate the ball all game unless they are extremely good, so he'll likely need to be some kind of threat without it, but I think he's on a pathway to be at least good enough to be a rotation player with his drive and kick game. He's kind of like Ish Smith but built like a tank.

If Collier develops any type of catch and shoot game he's going to be so good. If i had to choose then that aspect of the game would be my biggest IF for him to succeed in a big role in nba.
 
Collier is a nice, rotational player on a playoff team. I'd expect the Jazz to keep him into his 2nd contract. He's got a nice combination of toughness, physicality, defense, playing with pace, and obviously vision and advanced timing on passes. He also rebounds above his weight class. I'm guessing the coaches really love him at this point.

Key thing here is he’s a nice rotation player as a rookie. What’s he going to be in three years. It Boyles down to 1. Either he becomes a little better shooter though his mid range game game seems competent or 2. He learns to get to the line and becomes a much better finisher. But if he’s going to be an above level assist machine he’s more than just a rotation player.

He'll need to improve his deep shooting and effectiveness playing off the ball. Jazz are going to bring in other guards and wings who will play with the ball, and Collier will need to be able to draw a defender. Think Derrick White. He does show some touch from 10 - 15 feet, so that's encouraging.
 
One thing that does not get mentioned much is Collier's demeanor. He is very level-headed and confident. He does not get carried away and start showboating, he is cool under pressure and does not get easily upset by his own mistakes or the errors of his teammates. This is a very good quality for a point guard and any NBA player. The only other player on the Jazz who is like that is Flip, which I also like about him.

I mostly agree, but he did have a league-wide famous example of the opposite with Sexton in crunch time a bit ago with the 8 second violation. He did follow it up with a game winner, but he does seem like a very calm guy overall who can boil over pretty bad on certain situations
