Collin Sexton SZN

Seems like Sexton got subbed out at the 3 minutes mark of the 4th when the game was basically won (15 point game)? But it's not like the Jazz put in the reserves, all the other starters were still in, Hardy just subbed Clarkson in. Hardy doesnt seem to fully trust Sexton yet.

He lost his whole 2nd quarter stint cuz he got hit in the eye. I think they wanted to take him back to look at a concussion and he was like “nah”. He didn’t really get hit like that but it was funny. He got pulled the last three minutes too not sure why exactly.

We need to give him 30 minutes a night going forward.

At one point Clarkson literally played 15 game minutes straight and I’m not sure why.

Hardy sticks to his rotations too hard at times. Sexton had 8 points in the first 6 mins of the 3rd and came out because the rotations said so.

Another thing I think could possibly be happening is the Jazz are trying to keep Sexton from getting injured. Not entirely sure but he has had a few injuries in his career. Limiting his minutes might be the way they are trying to do that. Just a thought.

He got poked in the eye and had to leave the game. That affected his minutes some. Keyonte being on fire and Dunn playing nearly flawlessly also might have come into play

It actually affected his minutes quite a bit, since he just played 40 seconds in all of 2nd quarter due to it. Hardy also pulled him pretty early in the 3rd quarter which was pretty puzzling as Sexton was the only one who got stuff done on offense. But as a team we struggled and maybe he was going off script too much there, or then Hardy just wanted to switch things up to get out of the slump.

The 2nd quarter only amoutned to 4 minutes lost if he had played teh entire time after he got subbed in.

In the 3rd he got subbed out quickly, but came in a minute later.

Like last night he has 19 points in 18 minutes.

Can anyone recall what he did that got him benched for so long?

Maybe Hardy is really cracking down on his guards taking too many shots? That seems to be the main reason THT is no longer playing.

Jazz cannot afford to give Sexton too many minutes, he gives away in D almost as much as gets in O (for himself).

Has been good anywho, just cannot have him, Jc and Collins too many minutes together out there playing.

Thank God Tht is not there anymore..

A minute into the 3rd Sexton left Beasley to (fake) help on a Giannis drive - open corner 3. Hardy immediately signaled for Keyonte, subbed him after the next Jazz possession, talked to Collin at the scorers' table for the whole of the next possession and subbed him back in after a minute.

I get that there are things ("Don't leave Beasley alone in the corner") that for Hardy are complete no-nos. Still, there's Sexton and then all the other guards.

Then again, can't argue with the results. And of course, if Collin keeps all the good things he has and does and could get rid of those brain farts of his, he'd be a pretty good player.

Well all our guards had good games going, so it was likely gonna be a pretty even timeshare game, with JC getting some extra minutes and Dunn giving up some, like it has been. So he would have ended up somewhere around 23 without those two.

I went to check and the mini sub in 3rd was likely to scold him for leaving Beasley alone to "help" on Giannis. I didnt see Sexton signal anything, but Bucks were rolling and Sexton gave their best 3PT shooter a wide open corner 3, so Hardy probably wanted to remind him of his defensive priorities.

Sexton makes more defensive *mistakes* than anyone on the team.

Clarkson is the least capable defender and gives the lowest effort.

Collins is just being asked to play a defensive scheme that doesnt really work for him at all.

So I get Hardy being extra hard on Sexton because the stuff he messes up on are the most fixable.

Lol went to check the tape and was just writing my reply mentioning that same thing. :)

I don't know if yesterday was the best example of Hardy being hard on Sexton, all the guards were playing well. But he definitely has a short leash on him and done some odd things like playing him in garbage time. Methinks Hardy is personally more tilted towards THT....but Sexton has been undeniable to some extend. Good for him, he's playing extremely well.

I kinda thought this could be the case before the season, but it would be a very good think for the franchise to just let Sexton let loose and play a ton of minutes. He's not the idea player to build around, but this team is kind of ideal for him to put up numbers. He could be putting up massive numbers with more minutes. I wouldn't give him more minutes at the expense of Keyonte, however. This would be something to think about if we're looking to trade JC. JC is definitely the guy Hardy favors the most.
