Welcome to Colton's Mock Draft Compilation, v. 17.0. Here are who the mock drafts are listing as the "best players". See below for details. It should give a pretty good idea of who will be available when the Jazz pick.

Ranking details: I used the following mock drafts as "voters" for the best players. That is, I assumed they ranked the players in the order that they felt like the players deserved to be drafted. (This is an incorrect assumption, because some mock drafts account for perceived team need, but it should be close.) Then I used the "instant run-off voting" algorithm in a program I wrote to deduce who deserved to be ranked in the top spot, then in the second spot, then in the third spot, and so forth. See here for details on that algorithm: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting

Changes from v 16.0: I went with all of the mock drafts on my list which had been updated in the past FOUR DAYS. SIXTEEN of the TWENTY TWO I used this time were new or updated since my last compilation.

Misc observations:

* All mocks have Irving at #1
* All but two have Williams at #2. Those two have Kanter going at #2.
* 11 of the mocks have us picking Knight at #3; 8 have us picking Kanter at #3; 2 have us picking Williams at #3 (bless them!); 1 has us picking Walker at #3. That's by far the most variation in the #3 pick that I've seen since the Jazz got the pick in the lottery.
* The Jazz are the most common team for Jimmer... but the Jazz are also the most common team for Singleton.
* 9 teams have the Jazz picking Singleton at #12; 7 teams have the Jazz picking Jimmer; 3 teams have the Jazz picking Burks; and 1 team each have the Jazz picking Leonard, Valanciunas, and Motiejunas.
* Players with a reasonable chance to be available at #12 include: Bismack (8 mocks say he'll be there), Tristan Thompson (13 mocks), Marcus Morris (9 mocks), Klay Thompson (7 mocks), Burks (11 mocks), Jimmer (17 mocks), and everyone ranked below Jimmer (20 mocks or more).
* 8 mocks think Bismack will be available at #12, and all 8 think we will pass on him.
* 13 mocks think Tristan Thompson will be available at #12, and all 13 think we will pass on him.
* 9 mocks think Marcus Morris will be available at #12, and all 9 think we will pass on him.
* 7 mocks think Klay Thompson will be available at #12, and all 7 think we will pass on him.
* 11 mocks think Burks will be available at #12, and 8 of the 11 think we will pass on him.
* 17 mocks think Jimmer will be available at #12, and 10 of the 17 think we will pass on him.
* Most confusing award: Tristan Thompson... he ranges from pick #4 (sports illustrated mock) to UNDRAFTED (about.com mock). Without the about.com draft, he would range from #4 to #16.

Remember that bigs rise on draft day so expect Jonas, Motijunas, Vucivic and Jajuan to go higher. Bismack info just released he has a bad back --watch him to fall like DeJuan Blair.
Smalls fall--Jimmer, Kemba, maybe Burks and Klay Thompson.

Thanks again for compiling these Colton. I can't wait to see how it compares. All the chatter I read indicates the whole draft is a guessing game this year.

Ok, what idiot did the about.com mock? Cleveland apparently spent a lot of time with him. I dont think there is any chance they take him if Kanter is there, but he is definitely top 17.

With the jumpiness of everyone's mock draft in the past couple of days that only confirms my belief that absolutely no one knows whats going on, even the GMs. Just a bunch of smoke grenades left and right, and I think most of them are being fired by Kahn.

As of right now, 9 of the 13 mocks updated today have us taking Kanter (3 have us taking Knight, and 1 has us taking Williams)

About.com lists Jimmer as a freshman. I think he would be going a little higher if this was his freshman year, and by a little I mean #1.

Phoenix: Jimmer Fredette
PG/SG - BYU (Fr.)
The Jimmer gets to learn his trade behind Steve Nash and possibly play a bench scorer role like that of Leandro Barbosa during his tenure in Phoenix. The fact that Arizona has a large LDS community doesn't hurt.

Thanks Colton. This is my second rep for you. opps - Sorry it says I must spread some rep around before giving it to you again.

Bump....

for old times sake,

There were so many stupid *** draft thread, that this fell into the abyss of the second and third page,

This piece of mathematical genius should get a second look.

Ugh. For as much time as I spent on that thing, it sure didn't end up being too accurate. I guess it's just a sign that the mock draft people really had no idea. "Garbage in, garbage out", as they say in computers.

I'm not complaining
;-)

and thanks Colton for the time and effort you put into this

Coincidentally, that's also the slogan at Beto's.
