This kid has been the high-point of the season for me. I expected very little from him this year. Seriously, he's doing all this stuff without a training camp or a defined role on the team, and, despite this, he's a year or two ahead of schedule.

Anybody that would trade him in a deal for Rondo is a ****ing tard.

I have nothing to add to this. Except that you CAN find good PGs all over the draft if you're patient enough. You get a Brad Miller or Ben Wallace case about once a decade. When you get a prospect like Kanter, you clutch onto that for dear life until he gives you a real reason not to. A bad-tempered PG that's scared to shoot from 15 or more feet is in no universe that reason (who, by the way, was a LATE 1st-rounder).

So i am a little conflicted right now. In one thread I get the feeling that we should get rids of Kanter and anything else that we need to in order to get Rondo. Now I read this thread and everyone can't wait to see this guys future.

Bigs win Championships. I wouldn't include Favors or Kanter for Rondo. A 19 year old and a 20 year old, just imagine them at 26.

As others have said, you don't trade a 19-year old center who has shown this type of potential for a moody PG with an inconsistent jumper outside 15-feet.

If there's one thing I want Kanter to spend all offseason working on - it's his second jumpability. We know he's not explosive and never will be - but he can improve his balance and develop quickness in getting off the ground. He gets a rebound or pass and has to gather himself before going up for a shot - the problem is to do so he either puts the ball on the floor or brings it down below his waist. Teach him to grab the rebound, chin the ball and then right back up. If he gets that part down look out.

tonstermits- All true except for the "learning new language" thing. I believe he was most certainly an English speaker as a second language for years as many young Turks are today. But certainly deserves big appreciation
for his adaptability.

Kanter never spoke English at all until he got to the States. His dad taught him to say "Hi my name is Enes Kanter." Right before he got on the plane. So he has only been speeking English for the 2.5 years he has been here.

Apparently during the MIT Sloan conference a paper was presented with some interesting findings on rebounding:

According to their research, rebounds collected within two feet of the basket have a 40 percent chance of being an offensive rebound. The percentage chance that the rebound will be offensive drops down to 22 percent between 2-10 feet from the basket.

This is interesting to me as it made me think about Kanter. Because of his big body, he's able to stay within 2 feet of the basket and not be pushed around. Which could explain why he gets so many offensive rebounds (although a lot of them are his own misses at this early stage).

So you would not trade unproven rookie (who so far showed that he can rebound but very little of anything else ) for proven NBA champion - 3X NBA All-star PG guard( one of the best passers an defenders in his position ) who is still in his prime?? What are you smoking?
Boston would never do such a deal in first place, but I would trade anybody on the Jazz for Rondo without a blink.

The answer is NO. Good/great point guards don't win championships, but they help. How far did the leagues MVP take his team last year? And he had some pretty fair players on that Bulls team. Keep our young bigs and build around them. Rondo will not win us a championship in the next 2 years, so why trade away our young bigs with great potential before we even know how good they will be. How good of record does D'Will have with the nets. If you have to lose bigs go with Jefferson or Millsap leave Favors and Kanter alone until we see what they are in a few years. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

At one time even Rajon Rondo was an unproven rookie. Your argument that Enes Kanter right now is unproven which means he isn't valuable is absurd. He's leading all rooks in rebounding and should be playing more minutes. You can thank Tyrone for that. As for Rondo, really good rebounder, passer, and defender. Terrible shooter. You might have a point if we were a Rajon Rondo away from competing for a playoff spot. We aren't. It makes no sense to make that deal unless it puts us over the top. When I say over the top I mean it makes us not only a playoff team but an actual contender. Good PGs can be had via the draft. Maybe not as good as Rondo, but good enough to get the job done. Good bigs are tough to find.

Also go to the Celtics board and see them how they desperate to have young bigs to build the team around. Their center is 1000 year old aged O'neal, back ups are wilcox, 26 years old rookie stiemsa. So Ainge knows the value of Centers especially whose limits are the sky. If jazz insists on Rondo, Kanter+ Burks and fillers make it but you gotta try to trade Al before even trading young fellas. Yeap we need a pg whose main job is being play maker not being under sg but u can not make it with ur future hopes, that is just false.

He is not even 1/10 valuable as Rondo. So not it is not absurd. Jazz still would have Millsap, Jefferson and Favors - plenty of bigs but they badly lack is pg of Rondo's level. What you are saying that you think Kanter and whatever PG you will draft at 10-12 pick will turn us into contender but Rondo not? Now this is a true absurd.

And in few years what? make playoffs and lose in first round?? Lets face it, without great passing PG's even best bigs will be useless. Plus Rondo is tenacious defender and Jazz are always lit up by opposing PG's... how Kanter and Favors will help in that regard? Will they guard them? Plus lets be realistic, neither of them showed potential to be at elite level yet while Rondo already is there ( 3X All star, championship and in his prime)
