In the past you could listen to Locke and read between some lines to know exactly what the Jazz were thinking. It's not super clear if that's still the case. All evidence points to Ainge being much tighter to the vest when it comes to our draft strategy than we have been in the past.

Honestly, ever since DL was let go, it seems like Locke doesn't have any clue what we're going to do in the draft anymore.

It's probably been even before then. I don't recall any Locke vibes on Azubuike at all. First I remember was TJ saying he could be in play, but that was just the day or two before the draft. (But my memory could be faulty.)

Which one of the top-9 slides past us then?
I was just saying that I want the jazz to draft Hendricks but I think he will be gone and they end up drafting Wallace. I wasnt doing a big board or mock or anything

I will be very upset if we draft Cason at 9
The odds Danny Ainge drafts a point guard at 9 are less likely than people think. ( Unless he overpicks for some team about to trade him some vet) He is far more likely to look at some of these guys at 16 if at all. I would imagine the offensive limitations of the top playmakers in this draft class overall, will make his decision that much easier.
You really cannot expect to win much, with a meh scorer, having that much on ball usage, in the modern NBA. We might draft a twin or Black to play on the wing as a secondary playmaker and use their iq and athletic abilility to be on the receiving end around the rim, but that's it.
Wallace will probably be a solid back up a contender, in time, if his finishing improves and he fixes his shot.
Black seems like a longshot to ever be a good shooter, and I highly doubt outside of being drafted by a tanker, he will be on ball running any offense.
I mean outside of situations where he is surrounded by 3 or 4 floor spacers, which we don't have as is at all so good luck with that.
Black is more likely to be in the same cat as the Twins for a couple years. Only he has less upside. They will get their chances to improve offensivly and make offense from defense, but in the end they will fail in the half court game, and in the playoffs with significant shooting improvements or like I said are surrounded by specialists.
Just looking at defensive freak athletes with playmaking skills, there are very few if any with a solid track record of winning in the post season.
I would much rather see Danny target elite upsisde high floor offensive prospects at 9.

Black won't last to 16, because there are teams needing defensive playmakers on the wing, and those teams are leaving the rebuild phase looking for role players.
We aint taking either at 9 unless it's is for some other roster that is desperate to suck and needs tank commando's,
We could consider Wallace at 16 I guess, as he should slide there easily, if not picked by the poor scouting Pels. But in the end imo he will prove to have been overpicked and some team soon after 16, will take the guy we should have picked like OMP, Leo Miller or my personal favorite that can't get any love thanks to injuries. Whitehead.

Bilal is in play here. I still think that the Jazz could value him enough to trade DOWN in the draft and pickup Bilal and an asset.

Hendricks, for me, is the guy.

I’m fine with asset accumulation at this point in the rebuild, but I’d rather trade up than down. If the Jazz like him that much, they should move up from #16 and get a higher rated player at #9 as well.

Andy Larsen talked about this today on ESPN700. Said in years past you could listen to Locke's show or Tony Jones interviews and get a really good idea who the Jazz were interested in...said the Jazz are trying really hard to avoid that this year and are keeping things close to the vest.

No idea what you are talking about here.
